Jul 7, 2012 - Kenmere Valley
Weekends are always busy in England so trying to get away from the crowds is a must for us. We looked once again at our "1001 Great Walks" and discovered there was one up the Kenmere Valley. The parking at the start of the walk was limited and we got the last space and it was only 10 o'clock in the morning. Fortunately the parking was the start of a number of walks in the area. We started our walk and we had to cross a field with cows and they had calfs. Not a good idea so we moved fairly quickly through the field. Our walk took us steadily...

Jul 3, 2012 - Changing our base in the Lake District
Moving day since being back in the UK always has its challenges. Today had more than most. On move days we now always have to do a black(UK chemical) and grey dumps. Today was the first time we had to use the masserater in the UK to do the black dump as the campground had no manhold cover or motorhome dump facility where we could dump using our 3 inch hose. May 27, 2011 - The Lakes
A slow start before a drive to Lake Windemere – once again a variety of roads – at least the slow speed saves on fuel. We stop for a brief ramble – up through farm paddocks with cattle and sheep. A bit muddy considering the recent weather. We lunch at Windemere and take a walk along the lake shore. Then another meandering drive to Lake Coniston through some lovely forested areas. David spies a sawmill so a brief stop there while he gets a guided tour. A quick visit to Grange on Sand – the mouth of the Kent River, Morecombe Bay. The tidal...

May 26, 2011 - The Yorkshire Dales
A drive through the Yorkshire Dales until we reach Kendal in the Lake District. The Yorkshire Dales is James Herriot country. All grass, no crops. A mix of cattle and sheep. The stone fences are quite high and zig zag everywhere – with no rhyme or reason. Perhaps they go around where trees used to be Good roads mixed with narrow – sometimes just using 2nd and 3rd gear as we climb and make our way around tight corners and over narrow bridges – having to stop and let other traffic through from time to time. Lovely drive but takes a lot of...
