19.8 Miles Helmsley to Lastingham I left my overnight accommodation at 'Redroofs' and as I ascended to the woods above the village the bells of the village church were ringing for Sunday service. The forecast for the day was for rain but in the event there was only to be a little drizzle between 2pm and 3pm. May 15, 2012 - Another Castle and Abbey

We had move the coach to a campground at Boroughbridge so we could visit the western side of the North Yorkshire Moors and also some places on the eastern side of the Yorkshire Dales. We headed to Helmsley a very picturesque little town. It was a very cold day. Thought this was supposed to be May! Our first stop was Helmsley Castle. Again there was a long history to the castle.
