Mar 31, 2012 - Life In Harrogate
Now that we have become settled in, the house looks to be mostly put together (not sure it will ever be 100%) and the dogs have accepted England as the new home we have begun to explore our local surroundings more. I have to say that Harrogate is easily one of the more picturesque towns we've seen in all our travels and it’s amazing that this is our home town. We've seen many of the parks, gardens, and all the rain one winter could throw at us. With spring upon us we've gotten out more and have been doing lots of hikes and walks through the...

Mar 18, 2012 - Harrogate
Four days to cover! Thursday we went back into York to see the rest of the York Castle Museum – this part was mainly about the wars and military history but there was also a very interesting sixties exhibition. Below was the Castle Prison, also very interesting. On Friday after a leisurely morning we set off to swap the empty gas cylinder and fill up with diesel. We drove to Harrogate and met up with Janelle (ex-pupil of David’s), Adrienne (her mum) and Oliver (her son) for a late lunch (by the time we had found somewhere suitable to park...

Aug 19, 2011 - Life In Harrogate
We've moved to Harrogate, England as of August 19th! So far we love the town and the surrounding areas. Harrogate with its population of about 100,000 is known as a "posh" area where many Londoners and Footballers have vacation homes, and seeing Ferarri's, Bently's and other fancy things are a daily occurance. We moved into a 4 bedroom house about a mile from towne center so we can take a stroll in whenever we please. We are located about a half mile from the famous stray, which is a gigantic park just south of downtown Harrogate and is the...

Jun 30, 2011 - Jolly Good
We are in England. It is best to gloss over the part about how we got here - suffice to say, when I think about the return trip, relocating begins to seem like a good idea. Today was mostly spent just getting to our hotel - I didn't plan any other activities because I thought we'd have jetlag, and it's as well that I didn't, because between the border strike and the bizarre way the gps wanted us to go, it took us all day to get where we needed to be - over 24 hours real time from when we left the house. Exhaustion ( and the terror of left...

Apr 24, 2008 - Harrogate Flower Show and on to Oswestry
We spent most of the day at the Harrogate Spring Flower Show. The weather was mixed, sunny one minute and downpour the next. Luckily, we had just sitting down to a cup of coffee in a large refreshment tent when a deluge of rain came down. The flowers and shrubs were wonderful and there was a variety of things to see and do – all concerning gardening. If we lived in the UK, we surely would have bought many plants and garden accessories. By mid afternoon we were on our way across the Pennine mountains to the small village of Selattyn near...
