Today we drove the Kielder Forest road to Kielder Water. Kielder Water is the largest man-made lake in northern Europe and the forest is the biggest working forest in England. It was conceived in the late 60s and constructed between 1975 and 1981 to to satisfy an expected rise in demand for water to support a booming UK industrial economy mainly steel.
