The pictures of the hotel do not do it justice. It was a 400 yes 400 year old part were the restaurant was housed. The rest of the facility had each room decorated in a different theme. Ours was call the Tree Tops and was African in decore. Loved it. After a very nice stay at the very exclusive hotel, we loaded up and headed for home (Salford) that is. Not wanting to just give up and head strait home we shopped in Cirencester, also a very high end shopping area. It was filled with designer decore shops and fine arts. None of which...

May 6, 2009 - Driving through Wales

Today we left Southport and drove to Aberystwyth, Wales. Wales is a lovely country with lots of green rolling hills covered with grazing sheep. We stopped in Welshpool on the way and stopped in at Powis Castle. Unfortunately the castle was closed, but we were able to walk around the grounds and get some pictures. The drive through Wales was on very narrow and windy roads, so it was a bit hair-raising. Aberystwyth is a cute University town on the Ocean. It has some ruins of an ancient castle. Jun 6, 2007 - To Aberystwyth via Criccieth and Harlech castles

June 6 - We made our way south along the coast toward Fishguard, where the ferries leave for Ireland, stopping to visit two castles on the peninsula near Porthmadog. Criccieth Castle and Harlech Castle are close together - you can see one from the other. But they are far apart in the Welsh mind! Criccieth Castle was built by the Welsh, and held against the English for a long time in the 13th century wars, until it finally capitulated.
