Apr 26, 2012 - Another walk by Rutland Water
Between the rain we managed another walk by Rutland Lake. This time we started in Hamberton village and walked the pennisula that stretches into the lake. The path was quite muddy due to the heavy rain. We discovered that Daisy had never seen sheep before and in fact was quite scared by them. However as we passed quite a few on our walk she soon passed them with confidence. It was a good walk despite the weather.

After a domestic and quiet day on Thursday we needed to go to Melton Mowbray about 15 miles from Grantham to exchange some LED light bulbs we had bought for the motorhome. Melton Mowbray has been a thriving market town for over a thousand years as recorded in the Doomsday Book of 1086. In recent times it has become famous for Melton Mowbray Pork Pies and for Stilton Cheese. Nov 22, 2011 - Uppingham, Rutland County
9th - 22nd Nov. (Birmingham, Wednesday). Check out is not until noon, so we decide to sleep in and skip breakfast. Cynthea’s train is at 1.20pm and Tony’s is not until 3.20, so Tony’s pack is put into storage and we walk the short distance to the shopping centre to pick up Cynthea’s glasses. We grab a bite to eat and head to the train station where we have a short wait for the train to Banbury.
