Mar 19, 2012 - Pass and Registration
On our way back to Northampton on Saturday we had a text from Martin to say our registration papers had arrived for the motorhome. This meant that the motorhome was now legal to drive in the UK and Europe. We were amused with the number plate as it was was made up of Heather's intial, maiden name initial and her birth date which made it easy to remember. Tony took his HGV E test again and passed so he can now legally tow the car behind the motorhome. We rang Gold RV and they were finalising the work so the motorhome would be ready for...

Mar 8, 2012 - Insurance sorted out at last and Tony's test
Last week had been a very stressful week for both of us. Tony with his driver training for his HGV E licence and Heather trying to sort out insurance for the motorhome. We also had that Lynne's washing machine didn't seem to be working properly. We hoped this week would be better. After a training session on Saturday morning, Tony was feeling a little bit better about his driving but was still unhappy about the split gearbox (with 16 gears) and was not convinced he would pass his test on the Monday. Monday dawned. His driving test went...

Mar 4, 2012 - Report from Florida
We are in regular contact with Tony's cousin Susan in Florida- Jenny's new home. The latest report is as follows; "Jenny is doing very well. With it being s bit cooler we have had the doors open & she can go in & out at will. She is getting used to Max now & gets quite animated in the evening when they are playing with Max & likes to join in & play. It is pretty funny. She plays for a few minutes & then has to have a rest & then up & playing again until finally she is done in & just sits & watches. With it being so warm I did give her a bit...

Feb 29, 2012 - Back in Northampton
We left Southampton on Sunday and headed back to Northampton. This time to house and dog sit for our friend Lynne. We had a few hours at Martin's collecting the post and saying hello to Hazel and Didi who were up for the weekend. Tony started his Driver training for the HGV E licence. He already has the HGV C licence but needed the E in order for us to tow the car. The first day did't go to well but the second day was better. We had received the clearance form needed to register the coach and now only had to sort out the insurance. This is...

Feb 1, 2012 - Saying hello to our honorary Nomad
The morning was spent sorting out arrangements for Tony to get his E licence and also getting some flour etc for heather to make bread. We then said hello to our friend Lynne our honorary Nomad. We had a lovely lunch together at the local Delpre Abbey before doing some shopping for some new electrical pieces we will need in the coach such as kettle, toaster, hairdryer and minichopper.

Jan 24, 2008 - An eventful departure from Northampton...
I wake up in high spirits. Today is the day that I take to the sky on the first leg of my journey. The taxi driver takes my suitcase and grunts 'You can tell this has been packed by a woman; it's far too heavy for its size'. I don't let his chauvinist comments dampen my spirits. Nothing like service with a smile. Waiting for the coach to Heathrow, I note that the girl sitting beside me has an identical suitcase. I comment that we should be careful not to mix them up. She replies: 'I hope not, mine has my wedding dress in it...' 'Trust me',...

Sep 6, 2006 - Rose Narrowboats
We arrived in England much sooner than originally anticipated, but Julia, for her birthday, wanted to cruise the canals on a narrowboat. And the only availability was now (late August). So, after taking the tram in the wrong direction in Berlin and fearing we would miss our flight, we did make it to the airport. Our flight landed in London and we took a bus to Coventry, our home for a few days before picking up the narrowboat. For the first time in our travels, we were in a country where we understood the language, or at least most of it....

May 27, 2006 - Wedding - Jo and Graeme
We navigated our way to the hotel in Rugby with the help of AA directions and met up with Fay and Sally - Fay's friend from the South. It was great to be at Jo and Graeme's wedding and then celebrate at the reception. Jo looked fantastic and Graeme very handsome in his kilt. The speeches were all really entertaining and Jo's Dad and Graeme both said lovely speeches. Then everyone boogied the evening away. It was also nice to chat with people over breakfast the next day. Jo and Graeme then flew off on their honeymoon and we said goodbye to...

Feb 26, 2006 - They Think It's All Over - It Is Now!!
Well that's it. A fantastic year of adventure done and dusted. From Bangkok to Brazil and everything and everywhere in between, we have had an absolute ball and have memories to treasure for the rest of our lives. First of all we have to say some thankyou's. And first up those brilliant folks in Perth, John, Glen, Chris & Jackie. Without you guys we wouldn't have lasted the year and would have been back home much earlier. When we met John in Cambodia we couldn't have imagined how our time in Australia and notably Perth would turn out. As it...

Feb 12, 2006 - Home Sweet Home
Dear all, Myself and my luggage miraculously got through our 34th flight unscathed, for which I am particularly thankful since we took off in the middle of a blizzard in New York after a 6 hour delay and must've been one of the last planes to go before they closed the airports. Apparently they're skiing down Broadway, which would've been a sight though obviously frustrating since my snowboard is at my sister's house. So anyway, now I'm home! It's very strange. I am currently fighting jetlag and a compulsive urge to go out and sight-see, not...

Nov 20, 2004 - departure day
Depart Rugby at 9am, my first task was to find my group at the airport. They were pretty easy to find though. I can't believe it's finally happening, i'm excited, but i'm also still hung over from all of my friends buying me beers last night to celebrate my birthday, (which is today) I have purchased a paper journal so that I can write things as they are happening and then update the website on my return, so that then the website will not be completely retrospective or rose tinted, I'm going to add comments that I make as I was experiencing...
