Sep 16, 2012 - Bedruthan Steps and Park Head
Our first day of exploration in Cornwall was to make our way through Newquay (not a very inspiring town) north along the coast to Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps. This was the start of our walk along the coast and around Park Head. The name Bedruthan Steps is said to be taken from a mythological giant called 'Bedruthan' who used the rocks (stacks) on the beach as stepping stones believed to be an invention for Victorian tourists. Carnewas was the name of the mine which between 1871 and 1874 mined haematite (iron oxide) from the cliffs. Walking...

Sep 15, 2012 - Hello Cornwall
We left Wareham and headed for Cornwall. The first part of the journey was on the A35 which twisted around a bit and was quite narrow in places so Tony had to be very careful. After looking at the forecast, we discovered the only place in England with sunshine for the weekend was in the south west. So Scott, Brooke and Pat and Sarah (Scott's mates) and myself heading for a camping weekend to the seaside city of Newquay. Newquay was a surpise packet. It's a quaint and picturesque city with a buzz and vibe much like Airlie Beach (but less backpackers). We made the most of the sunny days - mountain biking, relaxing at the beach and the boys...

May 25, 2007 - Wadebridge to Newquay
Friday, 25 May 2007 Wadebridge to Newquay We got changed, packed up the bikes, and set off at about 1.30 pm along the Camel Trail to Padstow. The weather was pretty cloudy with the occasional flash of sun, and a bit breezy. We stopped off in Padstow for a late lunch and some tea and then set off again; we weren't sure how far we were going to cycle but as the weather forecast was not great for the next few days it seemed best to make the most of the fine weather while we had it. We struggled to find the right way out of Padstow, but once we...
