Nov 20, 2004 - Flight to New Zealand

At Heathrow we all checked in and then moved through to the departure lounge, they were doing spot checks at the entry point to the lounge and I was put in the queue for a check, as I reached the front of the queue I realised that one of the ladies who was checking us through the check was someone that I had known a few years earlier back home in Rugby, she remembered me too and we struck up a conversation, catching up, in the process my bag almost got missed. At Heathrow we all checked in and then moved through to the departure lounge, they were doing spot checks at the entry point to the lounge and I was put in the queue for a check, as I reached the front of the queue I realised that one of the ladies who was checking us through the check was someone that I had known a few years earlier back home in Rugby, she remembered me too and we struck up a conversation, catching up, in the process my bag almost got missed....

our prepaid sightseeing tour of london was cancelled, so we had to do it on our own but it probably turned out better. ... this was such a long day! we saw city hall (a big egg-shaped monstrosity), tower bridge, the london eye (another monstrosity that londoners are strangely excited about, it's a huge ferris wheel), the tower of london (where henry the eighth cut his wives' heads off) and a very cool old castle, big ben, the houses of parliament (absolutely breathtaking), westminster abbey, hyde park, leicester square (the 42nd street of london), and buckingham palace. ...

Oct 30, 2004 - Final farewell to London

talk about jinxing ourselves!! Two hours later, a few phone calls to our mechanic and some inventive auto-electrical work by my Fiance, we were back on the road!! Very careful not to celebrate anything until we reached London. ...
