May 6, 2005 - Food
So I forgot a few things... for dinner tonight we had chicken kiev. Sounds good doens't it? Well it wasn't. There was also zucchini in some strange red sauce and corn and overcooked pasta too. So I had a few bites of that, a salad, 2 chocolate chip cookies, 3 glasses of mile, and 2 glasses of orange juice. So that wasn't too great, but the cookies were delicious and it's been a long time since I drank milk. Yummy. I'm off now.

May 6, 2005 - London I
So we got to London on Saturday. I spent all of saturday sleeping but James and mum went shopping for groceries. On Sunday we took the underground to Picadilly Circus where we booked our city tour. then we just sort of walked around the city, did some more grocery shopping and took a picture of a street named after jame's teacher, Mr Nesham. London is not similar to any of the cities in NZ although South Island culture and weather is slightly similar to England. On Monday we took our bus tour around the city which included a walk around...

May 5, 2005 - London The First Time
05-08 May London After an 11 hour flight, found my hostel, met some other travellers and went out. A strange night but good. Over the next 4 days I did lots of walking visiting most of the sights of London: the British museum where there is an amazing amount of Egyptian, Greek and Middle East history. So much so that I was getting blasé about otherwise wonderful exhibits. I did like the Samurai sword exhibit though. Westminster Abbey contains so many stories that if anyone comes to London I recommend doing a guided tour, or just eavesdrop...

May 4, 2005 - Arrival in London
Hi Everyone!! We made it to London OK. The flight felt very long because it was almost impossible to get sleep on the flight. I watched most of "Life Aquatic" with Bill Murray and Owen Wilson twice through. DJ watched "House of Flying Daggers". After landing at Heathrow, we made our way to the city on "the Tube". Then it was a little confusing trying to find our B&B because it took us awhile to figure out that the street signs are posted on the corners of buildings, not on street corner signs. By the time we made it to our room, we both...

May 3, 2005 - Jolly Ol' England
From Brussels I flew today to London. I have always wanted to see Stonehenge and the other times that I have been here I wasn't able to go. So, strait from the airport I went directly there. I stopped in a charming little town called Salisbury. Everyone was so nice and it was very beautiful. In their famous cathedral I was able to see the Magna Carta, which is the constitution of England. And it was what used to base the United States Constitution. The document dates back to the 1200s. It gave everyone in the land the same rights. It was...

And now, the end is near .... It's a twelve hour BA flight from Tokyo to Heathrow but crossing eight time zones - so we leave at one in the afternoon Tokyo time and arrive at five in the afternoon London time. We even manage to blag an upgrade from Economy to World Traveller Plus (like Economy but with more leg room) which was great (apart from the Aussie family with three sickly kids in the row in front and two French women who bitched and moaned for most of the trip - Don't like the food, Why aren't we by the window etc. - even though...

Apr 28, 2005 - London
Here is an update of the trip thus far for anyone who would like to know how it's going. The plane ride was good. I slept from Chicago to Heathrow which was nice. We got into Heathrow at about 8 am and then got on the Tube to our hotel. We had to drag our bags up quite a few flights of stairs and I was worn out and sore all day Monday. I have been averaging about 10 hours of sleep before Emily wakes me up for breakfast. I feel good though. I really like London. There is tons to see and I really like how most things are free. We got a week...

Apr 22, 2005 - Back on home soil...
Well after a long flight from Bangkok we finally arrive in London. The flight was sound but emotional...it is sinking in now that we are coming to the end of our travels. We are really looking forward to seeing everyone but are very sad to be coming home....Anyway we thought rather than travelling straight back up to Birmingham we would spend a couple of days in London to wind down our trip. We don't really have much money left so we can't be too extravagent. We have booked into a nice hotel near the Tate Gallery. We get the old Heathrow...

Apr 20, 2005 - London
By the way, I was in London for a day. I stayed with Claudia, a German girl I met on couchsurfung.com. It was a nice day. Drank at a Canadian Pub which is no different than an English Pub except for the Maple Leafs on the wall. People in England are as displeased with the war in Iraq as any sane person would be. Inside the Victoria & Albert Museum I saw some great stuff. Here is Buckingham Palace. More on London Later...

Sunshine all day monday. Got museumed out in the British Museum. But went to the 1st night of the 4th year of "we will rock you" the Ben Elton and Queen musical. Absolutlty fabulous. At the end Ben Elton came on and asked anyone who wished to surge forward and get on the new cast's photograph for the posters, so when you see it advertised look for the short person waving an empty water bottle maddly in the air half way back!!!
