Beim Tanken in Soroti hat sich das Tropfen dann wohl verstärkt und unser Fahrer entscheidet sich, eine Werkstatt aufzusuchen, besser gesagt einen sandigen Parkplatz zwischen 2 Straßen, auf dem aufgebockte Autos und Autowracks auf den Mechaniker warten. Schnell ist dann auch das Vorderrad demontiert und die Diagnose gemacht. „Dauert nur eine Stunde“, werden wir vertröstet und gehen in der Stadt Mittagessen. After rural home stays we returned to Soroti, and from there met with a group of people who took us to Amuria district to gain a deeper understanding of the conflict going on in the northern third of Uganda. Amuria is unique in that not only has it been affected by the LRA it has also seen frequent raids from the Karamaojong. The Karamoja are tribe living on the Uganda-Kenya border, they are herders who are just as likely to increase there herds through cattle rustling as they are through breeding. The cattle raids...

Mar 18, 2006 - Rural Homestay

My lived near the Serere Trading Center on a plot of land where they raised g-nuts (basically the same thing as peanuts), cassava, and maize. They also kept cattle, goats, and chickens. The immaculate compound was a semi-circle of five huts, a cookhouse, and a thatched sitting area. Pens for the livestock, the latrine, and the bathing area lay outside the living area. Sep 19, 2004 - Uganda - Work in Progress

Sorry folks, the photography shop was closed, so we couldn't get any pictures put on CD, which in turn means that we can't copy them here. We'll try and get to it during the next few days and put them up asap. Also, having just reread this, it's more a stream of consciousness than anything else, so apologies if it appears all over the place.
