May 16, 2007 - Parc Nacional des Volcans; Gorilla Tracking!

Sep 3, 2006 - Kisoro - 'Awaiting the Trek'
Packed our wet tents and headed for Kisoro which is the sleep over town for the Gorillas and border to the Congo. Played a few card games throught the day organised our bags for the trek, amazing how much you need and just relaxed. In the evening we had a local dish of goat stew (goat is nice). After tea a local orphanage came to the campsite to entertain us with singing and dancing. At the end we were all pulled up to dance Ugandan style with the kids. One of the most entertaining parts of the night was when they left. There were 32...

When we got down to Ruhengeri after the 13km hike with packs on, we were exhausted in the heat, but our plan was to exit from Rwanda by heading north directly from there and passing the northern most volcanoes. It actually became a pretty good trip. We were crammed into the back of a matatua, but had the volcanoes on our left and a lovely...

Apr 18, 2005 - Blokes Dressed As Gorillas.............
When commencing this trip,I only had 2 things I really wanted to see.One being the mud mosque in Mali at Djenne which didn't disappoint. The other was to see the mountain gorillas. Now I'm sure everyone has seen the documentaries and heard the stories about the gorillas so I won't bore you with the details. My encounter with them took place in the border region D.R.Congo in "Le Parc National des Virunga".Now this wasn't a cheap excursion by any means.$350 US dollars was the price to pay for viewing the magnificent creatures in their natural...
