An early morning game drive in our truck and the roof seats were opened up for the first time. Most of us had a go in them and the view from there was magnificent. We saw elephants, bush buck, water buck and one lion sitting on a rock - not a huge amount of animals but we all enjoyed the drive. Then it was on to Mbarara for an overnight stop.

Aug 17, 2009 - Mihindi Lodge, Lake Mburo

Yes, this place was so special it deserve a title all it's own. We'll back up a little.... we left Bwindi in the morning after watching the gorilla again for an hour. They walked up to where the cottages were and were feeding. It was truly amazing AGAIN! The sight of the silverback got us all excited.... we were watching with a friend we made, Stephanie from New York, and two of the guys from the resort. The group following the R gorilla group that morning was going to have an especiaaly short trek. We drove to Lake Mburo outside Mbarara...

Dec 31, 2008 - Trying to get to Tanzania

Ok. So in Africa, it takes an entire day to travel like 300 km, especially if you are taking two modes of transport. We tried to make it all the way to the ferry in Tanzania but were forced to stay at the border, where I got so pissed off. Some guy was making street food and over charged us about 2 dollars (charged us double basically). These experiences happen all the time but it sucks when its not in a tourist place and when everyone around you is laughing about it (all the locals).
