Apr 14, 2010 - Our last few days in Yenifoca

Monday 12th April – another lazy day. We went back to Foca, wandered around again and had lunch in one of the main streets while we watched the locals walking by. Other than that back to counting waves and seagulls in Yenifca! Tuesday 13th April we got a bit more adventurous and drove north to a place called Candarli. This involved driving along a minor road to pick up the main freeway north in this part of the country. I was a bit nervous not have driven on other than minor roads to date. Apr 12, 2010 - More relaxation in Yenifoca

Saturday 10th April – today we went for a drive from Yenifoca to Foca. That is, from the relatively new village which is only about a 1,000 years old to the old village dating back several thousand years. After getting lost and trying to drive through a military reservation we ended up where we wanted. Most main roads through villages in this area are made of interlocking brick. However, as soon as one leaves the village you are back to ruts, holes, bumps, fraying road edges and basically roads that do not appear to have been maintained for...

Apr 9, 2010 - Relaxıng ın Yenifoca

Thursday April 8th – we left our hotel at 11am and went to the Bus station in Kusadasi where we took a bus to Izmir. While the bus ride was only just over an hour they served drinks and snacks to all on board – there are a number of bus lines and competition is great! On arrival at the Izmir (a city of 3 million) bus station we were met by the car rental company who then drove us to YeniFoca, about an hours’ drive away on the coast.
