Our ship entered this natural harbor at sunrise. A very pleasant sight greeted us, turquise colored water against the green hills and moutainsides. The city of Maramis dates back to the sixth century BC. Typically, the town was colored by red tiled roofs, white stucco buildings which lined the sparkling bay. This first view, of the town, gave us a sense of the pleasureable day we were about to experience. We had a tour scheduled but immediately chose to forgo the trip, as soon as we got to town.
