May 18, 2006 - Amasra - the picturesque black sea

Amasra was our little detour "off the beaten track" and it proved to be well worth it. A small town frequented by holidaying Istanbullus. The town is bounded by a harbour on both sides and at the end is a roman fortress where a bridge connects 2 islands to the mainland. We stuck out like sore thumbs as we walked around town, everybody wanting to know where we were from. Unfortunately (or fortunately) most of the townsfolk didn't have a grasp of the english language and as our turkish was non existent it was sometimes a little hard to...
