From Fethiye, we took a local bus to Pamukkale. About 200km as the crow flies; six hours by Turkish bus. But if you could see the area, you would understand. It's very rugged and rocky with only small roads. We enjoyed the views from the bus window. Pamukkale is of interest to tourists because of its natural hot springs. For centuries the springs have been dissolving and redepositing calcium carbonate as travertine on the mountainside. Ancient people settled there in the Roman town called Hieropolis.
