May 8, 2005 - Bodrum. Urgh.

Bodrum is set around a very picturesque harbour and is also the home to the biggest castle of the Knights of St John on the mainland and to the first mausoleum, being the tomb of King Mausoleus. However, it is also home to mass over development and vile, drunk and loud tourists. Most of whom seem to be English. Oh and it is also home to English Pubs, English Soccer and Fish and Chips and Bacon Sandwiches. You would struggle to find anything of Turkey in Bodrum at all. Bodrum, Turketriese and any other settlement will have restaurants and shops catering to the Turkish population...

Andy's Wanderings

Sep 28, 2004 - Turgatriese

Extract from my e-mail journal: The Mark Warner resort is full so they put me in an 'all inclusive' resort just along the beach. I was amazed by this place. Everything inside the perimiter was free, food, entertaınment, snacks, more snacks, beverages, and unimported alcohol! You could get a cheap flight to Bodrum and stay a week for under five 'undred nicker! Result! So long as you can tolerate the English voices surrounding you. It seemed amazing value to me. The Mark Warner resort was full on. Really a kind of mini Pink Palace for 30...

Andy's Wanderings

Sep 27, 2004 - Kos

Extract from my e-mail Journal: I travelled from Rhodes to Kos by Ferry stopping only one night in Kos to get the connection to Bodrum, planning to meet up with my pal Emma who I met skiing in February. She and a few friends were staying at a Mark Warner Resort nearby so I was going to gatecrash! To my delight I discover that I can get a ferry to Turketries, much closer!
