Well we do not often hitchhike, but the 7 kilometers from the main road to Cirali was much too far to walk in. And even more so on the way out, as those 7K are uphill. So a nice kid from the rental car company picked us up, dropped us at the road just as a minibus was arriving and off we went to Fethiye, the long, scenic way around. Quite a beautiful drive it was, skirting the mediterranean for almost the entire duration. And it was quite some duration as we seemed to stop and pick up every forlorn soul standing on the side of the road. Now...

Apr 16, 2005 - Cruising the Mediterranean sea

We stepped aboard a 22m boat for a classic gulet 'blue cruise' from Demre to Fethiye. For four days and three nights we had cabins in the hull of the boat. They are best described as beds with toilets carved into the bow of the boat. Six other passengers and overselves were quickly loaded, fed and set sail. The captain and his two crew continuously worked to feed us, man the boat, and entertain us.
