Dec 2, 2007 - Pae
Hey guys, soooo sorry about the lack of contact over the last couple of weeks! Thailand prices are almost as high as the UK so we've been keeping our spending to a minimum when it comes to the internet! Anyways... think we left you guys heading out of Laos on the bloody awful slow boat that took a zillion years to reach the Thai border... so we finally arrive in Chiang Khong in northern Thailand and grab 2 mini vans to take us to Pae, which was an absolute blast! We arrived around 8pm and found some cool little bungalows to stay in right on...

Aug 8, 2007 - THAILAND - Pai
MORE PICS TO FOLLOW FROM THE DUTCHIES! Pai is a lovely hippy town in the mountains of north Thailand & nice as is pretty remote and not too built up...yet! The area all around it is beautiful, lots of rivers and green jungle everywhere. Decided not to do anymore trekking here as was feeling a bit lazy & is too hot so did a day white water rafting instead...lots more fun! The rapids were graded 4-5 so not too fast for a first-timer like me and we only had one near boat-flip moment where i luckily managed to stay in the boat...others weren't...

May 9, 2007 - Hillside Trek - day 1
We left the hotel early in the morning in two trucks. Somehow Brian and I were separated and everyone speculated that the magnetic attraction between the two of us would keep our trucks together! I ended up being in the "party" truck, while Brian hung out with the motion-sickness afflicted people. All of us girls told stories about our worst jobs, worst dates and just had a great time! Every once in a while, a bug would get tossed into the truck and we would scream and flail, but it was all great. We stopped just briefly at a market so our...

Jan 8, 2007 - Escape from Chiang Mai
Matt: The plan? We would get our flights and logistics sorted out first in Chiang Mai, then head to Pai for a few days. Sounds simple doesn't it? Well first of all we needed to figure out where we would start our trek through India. Sounds like a somewhat straighforward task, except that flights to the south (where we wanted to start) are expensive and not too frequent. More importantly, the travel agents we found didn't seem to interested in spending much time researching flight options. Also, most travel agents we talked to also have...

Dec 14, 2006 - Chilling in Pai
Well, I have been in Pai for 3 days and have no crazy drunken stories, not much has happened at all to be honest, in fact haven't even been drunk yet. Just to mention I think I am in Pai (Thailand) although I am thinking I was perhaps drugged on the bus here and taken to a Pai in Isreal ... that's certainly what it seems like, I swear there are more Isreali's here than Thai's, and for those who have had little or no dealing's with Isreali's I can tell you it's not a good thing!! Pai is a pretty chilled quiet place and I have to admit it's...

Nov 23, 2006 - Survived the trek and arrived in Pai
pai was the bomb.com. the epitomy of peaceful and a much needed relaxing few days after our trek. it is a total little hippy village nestled in the mountains east of chiang mai towards the burmese border. after trekking the truck dropped us off in some unknown tiny town where we were told we could catch a bus to pai. all the buses were cancelled for some unknown reason. we managed to hop in the back of a locals truck who was on his way to pai for just a few baht. we thought we were the luckiest people ever until the sun set and it got...

Nov 1, 2006 - THAILAND: Pai & Elephant Trekking!
Pai is a lovely hippy town set in the northern highlands of Thailand. The boys and I stayed for 4-5 days relaxing and exploring some of the area on motorbike, and elephant! I also did some Yoga which was great and definitely needed. However it made me realise how out of shape I am. Mam, the teacher, verging on 60 is super-flexible and was twisting herself into all kinds of positions!!!! I'm sure that's just the 35 years of practicing that has done it and no reflection on my abilities! The whole area around Pai is gorgeous and the elephant...

Sep 4, 2006 - Pai - Sunshine, Waterfalls, Motos and Accidents
4th Arrived in Pai at about 5 after a relatively short 3 hour journey in a mini-van; quite a comfortable van to boot. Although the break neck speeds at which it tour around the windy yet scenic roads made me a little ill. First off we went to try and find Dean. After getting his address from an earlier email we went on a small trudge to the opposite end of town. He turned out not to be at home, the place he was staying was a little naff too. Deciding to hook up with him at a later time, we headed closer in to town and found a small Guest...

Jul 26, 2006 - Travel to Chiang Dao
After a morning of logistics we are on our way the bus station in Chiang Mai to catch a ride to Chiang Dao - our next stop for some mountain trekking. I love the taxi drivers we get (taxis can be a pick up truck with a canopy, motorbike with 3 wheels etc.) because they find out where we want to go and they keep an eye out for our bus because we often don't know the exact schedule of the deaprtures. For a second time this trip, our driver sees our bus pulling away from the station and floors it to catch up and flag it down. Amazingly, the...

Jun 3, 2006 - Pai
We all jumped on a 4 hour bus ride from Chiang Mai to Pai. Pai is northwest of Chiang Mai and lies relatively close to the Burma border. The town itself had a relaxed atmosphere with some beautiful country surrounding it. Very dense and lush. We stayed for 5 nights at a small guesthouse for about $3 a night. Most days we filled by cruising through the countryside around Pai, seeing where we'd randomly end up. We found ourselves driving through small hill villages dodging roosters and dogs on the way to seeing waterfalls. Small bits of...

May 30, 2006 - Pai
I followed my friends advice and I went all the way up to Pai in the very north of the country! Pai is just a small town in the middle of the montains and it is very relax! The landscapes are totally amazing. We rented scooters and drove around the area! That was loads of fun despite the fact thast we got caught in the rain... Anyway today is my last day in Thailand (for the moment) and tonite I am taking the bus to the Laos border and from there I will get on a 2 days cruise down the Mekong river till the city of Luang Pragan... New...
