Nov 16, 2010 - Anyone for thai?
We had our first 'lie in' this holiday and got up after 8.30am!!! After a lovely breakfast we went and read for a while on our balcony, sheltering from the rain. We're destined not to get any suntan, but at least we'll have all the memories! We then went for a thai cooking class with chef 'Kitti'! We learnt how to make hot & sour prawn soup, a curry type main course and pad Thai. We then ate our own cooking and it was like having a feast! I think that even Dan enjoyed the experience, although amazingly he wasn't able to finish all the...Jump to full entry
Nov 15, 2010 - Paradise!
Ok, so this is what paradise is really like!! We got up early (again) and headed to Bangkok airport for a domestic flight down to Krabi in South West of Thailand. We took a taxi through windy roads and jungle to our beautiful boutique resort, The Tubkaak. We were greated by really friendly and attentive staff who took the time to show us round and explain everything. The beach here is simply gorgeous, with the restaurant and bar looking over the small islands off the coast and the waves lapping against the shore. We had a tranquil lunch by...Jump to full entry

Jun 20, 2010 - Krabi
20th June Woken abruptly to egg sandwhiches and then a boat back. As we needed to catch our boat to Karbi they took us straight back to the harbour on a little moor boat instead of going on the big one and stopping for mote snorkling. Was a bumpy ride. We tonked it to get our bags and then back to harbour in time. Thought we had missed it as we were just on time but for one day only the boat was running 20mins late luckily. Got to Krabi and straight to our dove of a guest house with window view of a wall 30cm away from the glass. Caught up...Jump to full entry
May 31, 2010 - Ao Nang et Ma fête!!!

Feb 7, 2010 - Krabi, Thailand
Finally at the beach! We came to Krabi two days earlier then expected. Staying in Krabi town for two nights then down to Aonang Bay which is 20 minutes south of town. Day 1: Wow. After 29 hours of nonstop traveling via bus, train, another bus and finally taxi to our hotel. Learned plenty of lessons on cheap public transportation, but that's another story. Our first stop in Krabi is the subsection called "Krabi Town". Even though we travelled forever, we stayed up and took advantage of the pool all evening. Day 2: After a nice 11 hours of...Jump to full entry
Jan 19, 2010 - Bikinis, Beaches and What No Boys !!!!!
We drove for about 6 hours to get to Krabi a town along the waters on Thailand.....water equals Beaches, which was worth the drive. Stayed at J Mansion which was great. It was very clean and the staff was very friendly, and they arranged a great day of island hopping for our group. At Ao Nang beach we spent time tanning and walking the serene streets. Of course the streets were lined with market shops and restaurants. It is absolutely beautiful here, so glad we are here for 3 nights.....relaxed and enjoyed every minute of it. We went...Jump to full entry
Jan 17, 2010 - Bangkok and Beyond
Arrived early and went for a Tuk Tuk ride around Bangkok to see the temples. It was a government holiday so I got the tuk tuk for 10 bhat for as long as I wanted to tour. Went to Temple Benchamabophit, Temple of Blue Buddha, Temple of Green Buddha and Wat Indraviharan(45 m tall Buddha). It is common for tuk tuk drivers to try to get you to go to other places. Sucked in, had a nice cotton shirt made at the tailors, and then the driver took me to a jewellry store, yikes cheapest ring $600 cdn, not likely. Well he was kinda ticked because if I...Jump to full entry
Jan 7, 2010 - Krabi, Thailand
Thursday 7th January 2010 Time to move onto another country today – Thailand is the fifth out of nine which we are planning to visit. We travelled from Penang to Krabi – it was another very long minivan journey and pretty stressful as they don’t leave you anytime to get any lunch! As we hadn’t eaten breakfast either it made a long journey seem even longer! We crossed the border at Sadao (Thailand) - Kayu Hitam (Malaysia) and drove up through the south of Thailand to the town of Krabi which we are going to use as our base for the next few...Jump to full entry
Dec 29, 2009 - Krabi
Dec 27, 2009 - Varkala/KL/Krabi/Ao Nang Beach
Four lovely relaxing days at Varkala. Very touristy but food and beer available at the same premises so that did it for us. Lots of swimming, walking, eating. Brilliant end to India. All in all we've really loved it. They reckon there is a 48/52 percent of travellers to India who either vow NEVER to return against those who love it - we often fell between the two but after getting our bearings again in Goa and Kerala, we'll be back. Did meet several people who most definately fell into the first, seems the north is even more full on than...Jump to full entry
