Nov 21, 2009 - I Got a Bamboo Tattoo !

The morning after guys from the guesthouse came to pick up us . Later we took the boat to krabi and once arrived we decided to share a room all together to save money. We had wifi in the room so we were staying on internet and Loic came out to check the tattoo shop as he wanted to get a bamboo tattoo ( a tattoo made manually with a bamboo instead of the machine. It is an ancestral way to make tattoo. ) I was thinking to get one on my feet , just a stars shadow to finished the tattoo I already get in bali two years ago but I didn t planned...

Nov 11, 2009 - Krabi

The vacation starts! I arrived in Krabi today. Bangkok was Bangkok but I already feel more relaxed here. Although the taxi driver told me the hotel I booked over the Internet used to be rented by the hour. Well its paid for. I went for a walkabout town and it started to rain, no surprise. I took shelter at a drink stand and started talking with an Scottish expat. He has been here about five years. I got the low down while his wife was at the dentist. What a coincidence. He suggested I go to Ao Nang, as I could get a better deal on the...

The beach was really quiet and beautiful, the water was really hot.was a quiet day. on the 8th we took the local bus and a fisher baot to join...

Sep 9, 2009 - Natty and Carls thailand adventures

Right, so the thailand adventures continue! The night before the full moon party we decided to party hard (get those livers working, right? wrong.) We may of partied a little TO hard, if there is such a thing. We casually strolled home at about 4 am, after god knows how many buckets. Thankfully, we had our friends with us to keep us in line. After a little over 5 hours sleep, we awake to THE FULL MOON NIGHT!! feeling a little hungover, but rather excited for full moon we embarked on this beautiful adventure, open armed and open minded with...

Jun 17, 2009 - First days in Thailand

Thailand has been a country we have been talking about for a long time. Natasha and I both love Thai food and also love the beach so it’s been high on our list. The first city we flew into was Krabi. It’s just across the Malaysia/Thailand boarder and a very short flight from Kuala Lumpur. We thought that because it wouldn’t take long to get there and we want to see as much of the country as we can, this would be a great place to start. We booked a hotel on line that was just off the main strip and checked in. This place was deluxe with our...

May 22, 2009 - Krabi

After saying our goodbye's to Celia, Janine and Mat we returned to Krabi and the rather oddly named Lipstick Guesthouse (it was in Ilona's guidebook, not mine) whose owners I have to say were very courteous and helpful. There's no shortage of accomodation in Krabi, there must be more guesthouses and travel agents per square meter here than anywhere else in Thailand. Krabi doesn't have a lot to see but it is an excellent jumping-off point for the northern Andaman Islands, and there is Wat Tham Seua some 10 k's out of town which was caught...

Apr 27, 2009 - Krabi - day 9

This morning we drive to Bangkok (approx 4 hours) to catch our flight to south to Krabi. We arrive to the beach town of Ao Nang (Krabi Province) where we check into our guest house to enjoy the stunning Karst scenery and white beaches. Our guesthouse is in Ao Nang, close to the beach and provides a perfect spot to mellow out and relax. Weather and time permitting, you can take a longtail boat out to some of the beautiful islands and snorkel the reefs that have made southern Thailand so famous.

Apr 13, 2009 - Thai New Year

We only really came back to Krabi because nick had his heart set on doing a tour of Ao Phang Nga which is where james bond island is. When we tried to book the tour we were told we couldn't go untill the following day because of the new year celebrations, we had completley forgotten about this. It turned out ok in the end because we had the best new years day ever, what they do is have a gigantic water fight which goes on all day. The hostel that we stayed at had but huge buckets outside for us to join in the fun, there were trucks going...

Apr 6, 2009 - Southern Thailand

Southern Thailand was the perfect place to end our honeymoon adventure. After a short stint in Ko Chang, we headed to Krabi province. We loved it immediately. The clear waters were shades of emerald and turquoise, the scenery was filled with dramatic karst cliffs, and the snorkeling was dreamy. We will be posting the last set of photos and stories when we get back home. We leave for Toronto tomorrow morning. See you soon. Much love, Mark & Donna .

Apr 5, 2009 - Krabi Town

We came to krabi as we had no idea where we wanted to go next so we just hoped on a boat from phi phi and arrived in krabi. The town is really quiet and our guest house is pretty grim but very cheap so that is always a good thing. We stayed for one night and all we did was plan the next couple of weeks and drink beer that later being a regular occurence!! We are off to an island called Ko Lanta tomorrow to chill out and spend some time toghether as we figured when we get to oz we will always be with other people. We like to call it a...

Mar 12, 2009 - Sun,Sand,Sea and Snorkeling-Krabi

What can I say, the sun was out and the air temperature close to 38c, the sand is white, clean and very fine, the sea is warm and crystal clear, and to cap this all off, the snorkeling like entering a whole new world. All of the above pretty well sums up my day aboard a speed boat tour of four of the 83 islands which lie off Krabi’s coast. Did I happen to mention, I like Krabi? Perhaps I forgot, in the entire sensory overload which abounds, in this seaside town of 25,000. While strolling the main street, you find the usual array of shopping...
