Jan 7, 2012 - Koh Chang

Dec 27, 2010 - Visa run to Cambodia
A nightmare day to Cambodia. As our visa expired today for Thailand, today we had to go to Cambodia to exit Thailand and re enter to get another visa. We waved bye bye to Koh Chang after spending another relaxing boxing day on the beach and saying goodbye to our friends. Our trip today was booked from Koh Chang to Cambodia border then back to Bangkok. We left early and set off on our mini bus crossing the water on the ferry. After a not too bad journey we arrived at a hotel at 1pm where we were told to have lunch. Whilst in the hotel, the...

Dec 25, 2010 - Christmas day in paradise
We went to such a great party last night. We met a couple of girls from London who are really sweet and they joined us and Mel. We started in a few bars in the town and made our way down to the beach after that. There were 3 bars on the beach set up with sound systems playing loud music and we danced the night away. In the morning I was feeling a bit delicate from the late night so we spent Christmas day down the beach. Mainly we were swimming in the sea as it was so hot. In the afternoon we went for massages and had our Christmas dinner...

Dec 24, 2010 - The days of Koh Chang
What a great 5 days we have had in Koh Chang. The beach is stunning and the sun is so warm, we have been spending our days down the beach playing Frisbee, bat and ball and sunbathing. I bought a lilo and have actually been swimming in the sea. In the evenings we have been watching movies and visiting bars. They play live music everywhere so we have been well entertained. Joss has taught me how to play chess and we've been continuing the theme of playing cards. Melvin arrived a few days ago which is great, we have also met another group of...

Dec 19, 2010 - Koh Chang
We moved in to our new pad this morning. We downgraded to a 500BHT room but its a cute little soft wood bungalow with a hammocked porch and what seems like a front garden partitioned with rocks. The bungalow has windows all around the outside walls, so you can open them out and get fresh air and light. The claret curtains remind me of centre parks and we have a mosquito net above the bed which is like a tent... very cosy. After moving bungalow we headed to the palm lined beach and sunbathed on the soft white sand. The sea is clear and warm...

Dec 18, 2010 - Koh Samet to Koh Chang
We set off today late at midday. Although Koh Chang is not far east of Koh Samet you have to go back to the mainland, travel to Trat and cross again on the boat. We arrived at Ban Pe shortly before 2pm and couldn't get a mini bus to Trat. In the end we got a 2 hour Tuk Tuk for GBP20. By the time we arrived at Koh Chang off the ferry it was dark and we had to endure another 40 minute Tuk Tuk ride down to lonely beach. Koh Chang is the 3rd biggest island in Thailand and it's English name means Elephant island. We eventually arrived at Lonely...

Apr 13, 2010 - Bangkok and Koh Chang
Back to Bangkok to see the Sukhimvit area (business and shopping district). We'd booked a central hotel with average reviews but when we turned up we were shown to an amazing suite which we didn't believe could be ours so we locked the door and unpacked quickly. We shopped during the day and partied on an evening, even managing to visit some of the more interesting areas which enlightened us as to why Bangkok is so popular with the sex tourists. We also used Bangkok as a gateway to get to the island of Koh Chang where we enjoyed two very...

May 19, 2009 - Koh Chang
On the island of Koh Chang on north eastern Thailand coast. It seems to be a popular escape from Bangkok, lots of western tourists. The beaches are good, although this is the off season, so most days are gray and rainy. Which is fine by me, I'm at the end this particular Asia session - I fly to Canada soon - so I'm enjoying just relaxing. Taking in a few movies, reading a good spy book, sleeping late. Did a tour of the island by motorbike, but there's not much to see. Looking forward to seeing the kids and spending the summer in Canada...

Jan 11, 2009 - A lot in the next few entries
Things got really busy after Thailand which is good biz wise but left little time to follow up on keeping my blog at least half way up to date, so bare with me while I fill in the gaps for those that wondered how the rest of the trip went. In Thailand, I had stayed in Bangkok for a few days which without looking back, believe I had blogged already...in kind of a hurry because I have so much to do so let's move onto Koh Chang which came after Pattaya which was a rat invested sex hole (literally) and I didn't think much of Thailand until I...
