Oct 28, 2011 - Happy Birthday School
Today was my schools birthday!! And in Taiwan... any birthday is a VERY big deal. The whole day consisted of the students performing, BBQ-ing, and each class made an item (like tea, moon cakes, etc.) that they sold to other classes. Since the other exchange student and I didn't find out about this fantastic day of school till about 2 days before... we didn't perform but instead gave a big speech in front of everyone! A lot of people afterwards told me they recorded it so I could "Show to my mommy!!!" haha. They also set up many games like...

Oct 11, 2011 - chinese class
iv had chinese classes for a few weeks now, and now iv started having classes with my host mom. To improve my pathetic excuse for knowing chinese she decided we should start working together every day i don't have chinese class. I have no problem with that I'm really grateful for the extra help, but what was originally was going to be 10min every day has turn into 1-2hours depending on how much time we have. Oct 6, 2011 - swimming
we went swimming today for gym class. which might not be so weird except for the fact that pools were are not really anything like the ones back home.Sure there are your basic lap pools, but then there are their pools were people stand under there water jet with the power of a fire hoses. Its supposed to help the blood circulate better or something i think. then there are the temperature pools some are freezing or barely above, some are red and burning hot. those two are for booth men and women, then there are these things like hot tubs one...

Sep 27, 2011 - My Mom would be proud, I made my own Lunch!
A typical lunch at our school is very different from America. NO ONE brings there own lunch but instead we have 5 big bins of fresh food that we all go through with our trays and then return to our seats in the classroom, but today was different :) The day started off with the students getting their blood drawn (I'm not sure why... ha but they said we didn't have to because most foreigners think the Taiwanese are bad with needles...) and when the students returned we all went to Chinese culinary class, where they informed us that we would...

Sep 26, 2011 - Distributer of Pain
Today as Sierra and I walked into hair class, we were not prepared for what we were about to get ourselves into... and if we would have know... I think we would have run out of the class as fast as we could. ha A typical day in hair class consists of a bunch of maniquien heads out on the tables and students surrounding them; however, today was different. When we walked into the classrom there were no heads on the tables and the students sat in seats with a single towel sitting next to them. So we sat down next to everyone and waited to see...

Sep 15, 2011 - Akward in All Languages
Today I have learned the valuable lesson of being prepared for anything... even when you think you've already suffered through it once and would never have to go through it again... haha It all started this morning when our baking class was running behind so instead of cooking up some delicious sweet rolls we had to stay in the classroom with the other students for a period. The teacher walked into the room, plugged in her computer to the projector, and we all sat there quietly in the dark until a movie came on. It was all in English and...

Sep 7, 2011 - A Slice of Heaven
Yesterday Sierra (the other foreign exchange student) and I got the surprise of our lives whetutorttransferredsfered us into our first baking class. As we walked into the kitchen a sweet aroma of baked filled filld my nose and my mouth started to water more then a leaking dam. They brought us to the front of the classroom and all the students dropped what they were doing to crowd around us. The teacher started putting ingredients in our hexplainingliainChinesehinese, what to do with them. Now, I am not a good cook... to say the least......
