Jun 21, 2009 - Taipei and around

Vimos lugares turísiticos per no muchos. De todas formas pasamos increíble. A mis amigos les encantó la Gabriela y a ella le encantaron mis amigos. Hicimos un montón...

Nov 1, 2008 - Taiwan

Taiwan, Nov. 1, 2008 This morning we docked in Keelung, Taiwan. This is also called Rainy Harbor and for good reason, it was pouring. Once we crossed the mountains and entered Taipei the weather was clear. We passed by Taipei 101 the tallest building (at least for now) in the world. Our itinerary took us to the National Palace Museum. It houses one third of the worlds finest Chinese Art. It was amazing but we had too little time and there were way too many people. Next we went to the Martyr’s Shrine to see the changing of the guard. It is...

Aug 30, 2008 - Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8

I’m very blessed to be able to go to Taiwan. While I was there, I was able to share my vision with friends, reconnect with old friends, visiting supporters and have a personal retreat. I was there for 3 weeks, and everyday, Dad reminded me of how blessed I am. Each day He used different people and things to remind me how much I am loved by Him. Before I went to Taiwan, sometimes I felt depressed about the new life in China. I felt forgotten and abandon. Felt that the people used to be around me have already move on with their lives. When I...

Jan 14, 2008 - Taipei, Taiwan

Brrrr, my first impression of Taiwan is how dang cold it is here! It is the middle of winter, so I shouldn't be surprised...but my poor body is just not used to these temperatures! Despite the weather, I had a great time with Sonnie & Randy in Taipei. They were extremely generous and opened up their house and hearts to me. Randy and I lived together for a few years back in SF...in the Marina and on Russian Hill! He's been working in Taipei for the last couple years, which is where he met Sonnie. Sonnie was an amazing host and a great tour...

Nov 14, 2007 - The Day that Never Was

Tuesday we woke up with unfinished errands and people to see, and early Wednesday morning we boarded an elderly 747 for Taipei. We were locked in for 13 hours, and for the first two hours I felt claustrophobic, sweating each time the plane was bumped by turbulence. The video screen showed a map of the Pacific Ocean, with a small jet representing us moving over the vast blue, a frightening depiction of how far we were venturing over the open sea, at night. The man next to me struck up a conversation. "Where you go?" he asked in staccato...

Jan 30, 2007 - Reunion in Taipei

We arrived in Taipei on Saturday and have been having an absolutely fantastic time. It's so nice to see friendly, familiar faces after so long and Erin and Brian have been great hosts. We've done a bit of sightseeing, checking out some memorials and Taipei's 101 story building, but really, most of our time has been devoted to some pretty intense socializing. Erin and Brian have a really great bunch of friends and they've all showed us a great time. Our highlight will probably be the 'Denbing' breakfasts - excellent for that post-party...

Jan 17, 2007 - Kuala Lumpur to Taipei

Greetings from the good ol' U.S. of A! Last time we left off from the highlands of Malaysia (here's the link to the archives). This week we make our way back to the U.S. in style, as we board a Malaysia Airlines 747 jet. Once through the cabin door we get to take the cherished left turn into first class. Yeah baby! On the flight home we stop in Taiwan for some quick shopping before hopping the Pacific Ocean. If you want a dream ride (and news about an inexpensive Los Angeles car service), then come aboard. Don't worry if you're in a hurry...

Dec 28, 2006 - Flight #2: Anchorage to Taipei

Our flight began around 3:00am after a LONG check-in process. The computer system for China Airlines was down, and all travelers had to be processed BY HAND! The agents were very patient, and were finally able to get our group processed (even with seats together) for our long eleven-hour flight. They explained that the outage was due to an earthquake that had occured a few hours earlier off the coast of China. It cut telecommunication cables on the ocean floor, resulting in an outage of internet service for several Asian countries. The...

Mar 4, 2006 - Posting from Keelung, Taiwan (Port city for Taipei)

Saturday, March 4, 2006 Keelung, Taiwan (the port city closest to Taipei) I had a tour of Taipei in the morning and then planned to walk around Keelung and look for an Internet café. The tour took us to the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall for the changing of the guard, then to the "101 Building" (currently the tallest building in the world, but Dubai is supposedly building a taller one) for a picture, and then to the Palace Museum to see the collection of ancient Chinese treasures. This is one of the 4 top museums in the world and has all of...
