Aug 21, 2012 - St. Moritz 2 - Final Adventures
I struggled but got up at 7am this morning to get my final endeavors in before returning to student life. First up was another epic climb, I was attempting to get as far as I could on Mt. Mezdi right behind our apartment in 90 mins. I climbed a height of about 500m but had to come down for breakfast. It was sweet to see the sunrise over the mountains above the treeline. Not something you do every day. I got back in time, and the 3 of us journeyed to the top of the Corvatsch summit, topping our other mountain cable car rides to an altitude...

Aug 20, 2012 - St. Moritz 1 - Mile High Living
As usual...EPIC scenery, although different than usual. After an hour drive from Lugano we went up in altitude above 2200m (standard tree line height) and there were stunning vistas of surrounding mountains. However all were with a cool barren atmosphere and cows chiming away with their bells as background noise. This was the Julier-pass, yet another great area of the Alps with a few glaciers and massive waterfalls to boot. Then we descended slightly to ~1800m to the St. Moritz area. We've been used to amazing sights in Switzerland so far...

Dec 22, 2011 - St. Moritz
Off this morning on the train for a 2 hr journey by train to St. Moritz and through the glorious, snowfilled valleys and mountains. It was a site to behold. It hasn't stopped snowing here since the day we arrived...I estimate that good 2-3 ft of snow has fallen so far. St. Moritz is a beautiful spot on this earth..the lake wasn't thoroughly frozen yet so we couldn't hike across the lake. Through a binocular at the lake we were able to view a summer sailboat scene on the Lake Moritz. We had a fancy lunch at a swanky restaurant in St....

May 19, 2011 - Across the border
The last two days we have been traveling through the Dolomites, the Italian Alps. We picked up the car in Venice and drove to Cortina. The fist big change, was when we stopped in a little town to buy cheese and fruit. We went to the fruit store and they spoke only German. We walked two doors down to a shop they only spoke Italian..nobody spoke English. All the signs are in three languages, German, Italian and an Ancient Latin language. We had a wonderful drive through the mountains to Cortina. It was closed. Just kidding, it is however a...

Oct 6, 2010 - St. Moritz, Switzerland
Wednesday, October 06, 2010. What a great day! Sunshine again with temps in the 70’s. We decided to drive to St. Moritz in Switzerland only about 50 miles but we heard that St. Moritz just had snow yesterday. We started out on the lakeshore road to avoid the tunnels as much as we could. Very soon we turned east from Lake Como and started to climb and the views were magnificent. We were waved through customs. I don’t know why they even bother having officers stand there just to wave people through. But there we were, in Switzerland. Reaching...

Switzerland Day 1 Paris – Lausanne 17.08.2010 After our traumatic evening at the police station reporting my stolen wallet, we gathered ourselves together & found our way successfully to Gare de Lyon in plenty of time to catch our 8am train. As a consequence of our late night Al & I slept most of the way to Lausanne waking along the way to view the French countryside and quaint little towns. Once in Lausanne we quickly dropped our luggage at the hotel & caught a ferry on Lake Geneva to Montreaux which is a very pretty town (~ 1hr boat trip...

Jun 23, 2010 - Beautiful Switzerland
We left Milan (Italy) for Zermatt (Switzerland) yesterday morning. Half way there we realised Megan had left her shoes in the hotel in Milan. Oops. They were still wet from the Venice rain anyway. Two and a half hours later we arrived to a chilly little old town with the Matterhorn towering over it. Think Northern Exposure only with they spoke German/French and are no cars, only motorised carts and horse carriages. The buildings are made out of wood (the darker the wood the older the building due to sun exposure) and have a Hanzel and...

Aug 21, 2007 - 13 august 2007
Just a fast update, I took a chance last Sunday and said 'yes' to the invitation of a flight to Klosters - I was a little unsure the first time I heard the invitation - seeing as I had no idea where or what Klosters was. I felt infinitely better when Sarah told me she thought it was an invitation to a night club.... So I packed up my bongos, closed down the computer and took a ride on Marks boat (similar to Titanium) down to Nice airport. How nice is it to go by boat when a. it isn't yours to drive and b. it is a million dollar riva. I sat...
