Aug 1, 2015 - Le Port, le Pack

We woke up to rain this morning which meant we could sleep in - ligit. Not only did we wake up to rain, but I woke up with a cold. Either that or very bad hay fever. There are silver birch trees around the apartments so it's quite possible it was that. Anyway, I spent the day sneezing my little brains out. Not pleasant for all concerned really. The children, Maela and Silouane were still with Pit's mum on the French side of Lac Leman so everyone got to have a sleep in and a good rest. We were in pack up mode too, so after a leisurely...

Jul 28, 2015 - Home at Neyruz

Home. It really did feel like coming home when we drove through the familiar streets of Neyruz last night at midnight, walking in the door to loved ones and sleeping again in the bed kindly given up by Maela. Although it was a while before Alex got in there. There was so much work to be done, he sat up till 4am doing his work while I slept. Definitely sounds like at home doesn't it? Then while I got up and caught up on my emails etc, Alex had a lovely sleep in, which is definitely not at all like home! The whole household slept in...

Jul 16, 2015 - Working, Biking, Swimming

Sleep in! Yay. After two early mornings and very busy days it was a relief to know there was nothing planned for today and we could have a day around the house. Alex had work to catch up on, so spent quite a bit of time doing that, and catching up with the kids on viber. It's sad that we're not all together here! We miss the kids. Because of our busy days leaving early and arriving home late, we hadn't seen Marina or spent time with her for what seemed like ages so I went off with Marina and her kids to meet up with a friend of hers at the...

Jul 9, 2015 - Resting, Working and Biking

A day of Rest/Working and a small outing Well, we had to have it somewhere along the journey. A day to just rest at home. It's a pretty pleasant place to do that too! After the late night the night before, we actually slept in which didn't make us feel great. Our room is so dark in the morning, we can't even tell when the sun is rising unlike Paris where it shone straight in our skylights. Here they have these wonderful shutters on the outside of the windows which completely block out any light. So after this morning Alex vowed to put his...

Jul 5, 2015 - Church and a Picnic

Church with the Quintens We slept better our 2nd night here, which was good and we're even starting to sleep a little later now, rather than waking up at 5.30 like we have done for the past week. We are beginning to relax a little too, as the busyness of the cities is behind us. The Quintens home is in the little haven of the village of Neyruz -it is lovely and we are so enjoying the fellowship and friendship of being with Marina & Pieter. This morning we all left for church in Bulle (the same town as the chocolate factory was in...

Jul 4, 2015 - Callier Chocolate Factory, Switzerland - Day 10

4th July. I missed my family a lot today. Samara and Toby, Grandma and Grandad, Nanny & Pappy. A day of celebration without my fam. But it was nice to hear from everyone and also to those who sent happy birthday wishes.... We are still feeling very tired! Alex and Pieter were away for the morning in Neuchatel as Pit was doing some acrobatic flying training and along the way he was training Alex in the car driving on the other side of the road. It was a hot morning again too. My phone is still not fixed, and my ipad was out of battery so I...
