Snow crunched under my feet as I struggled for breath. Looking up, I could not even see the peak of Fenetre d’Arpette but I knew that after 2 straight hours of painfully steep ascent, it could not be far off. An hour later, I thought to myself, “Wow, Fenetre d’Arpette is pretty far off.” The thousands of calories from my 10am breakfast had long been utilized by my rigorous efforts and stomach was making noises like a wood chip machine. Miserable cannot begin to capture my state of being as 4 hours of uphill hiking with a humongous pack...
