Jun 17, 2009 - Volvo Races us to Stockholm
We went for breakfast and as we ate we started to enter the archipelago which surrounds Stockholm. The scenery became very lovely as we passed a variety of islands, some inhabited, some full of birds, some barren, but all green. As we approached Stockholm we made up on the Volvo Yacht Race. This is a race which chooses different cities around the world each year for an extensive race covering most of the world. We happened on Stockholm on the day it was here. The water was filled with watercraft, most spectators and curious observers, but...

My last three days in Sweden have been spent in Stockholm. I am staying with Marie, another Jennifer contact! Marie has a horse, Dorito so our first task was to drive out to the stables so Marie could muck out the stables. I LET HER DO THAT! The stables were on the outskirts of Stockholm and it was beautiful. The afternoon we spent at the Vassa Museum. If you get to Stockholm, this is a must! The Vassa was built in Stockholm and had her maiden voyage in 1623. Barely twenty minutes later she rolled over and sunk, never having left the...

We arrive into Sweden to explore the town of Gothenburg, or 'Goteburg', which is pronounced by locals as YOOOTEBURRRRGE' :) We spend 2 hours agonising our way round the ring roads and one way streets of the city searching for accommodation. We eventually give up and try our luck with a camp ground 5 km’s out of town. We are shocked to find a 5 star version of camping featuring cabins, fully contained cottages and private rooms with kitchen facilities. We opt for the private and check in. Result!!! The room has a TV with cable. We turn on...

Apr 26, 2009 - Stockholm.
26 April. At 7 o’clock in Sunday morning, I arrived to Arlanda Airport. Clear weather, but cold only 8°C. After passport control, received my luggage and custom control, I took the airport express train to Stockholm Central station at 8 o’clock. 25 minutes later I was at Stockholm’s railway station, there I bought a new ticket in a ticket machine to Falköping, my hometown. This visit in Stockholm was one the shortest I ever had. 45 minutes after the arrival, I departed Stockholm on a south west bound train. Unfortunately due to big prize...

Apr 21, 2009 - Syncing with Stockholm
It is always so weird to be transported from one season to another in such a relatively short space of time. Not that it felt short on the plane - 24 hours of travelling is almost too much for us these days. The first 10 hours to Hong Kong on Cathay were ok. We boarded at midnight but they still fed us and of course we ate so tried to sleep from about 2am with occasional success. Then they fed us again in the morning. We had an hour and a half in Honkers airport and parted company with $18 for two coffees. The next 10 hours with Finnair...

Mar 30, 2009 - Life at the end of the #1 bus line
Hi - It's been over 2 weeks, and I still have all my fingers and toes, even though the temperature is hovering around zero. The locals may consider this Spring but I am quite certain it is not. I do not wear gloves, scarf, and ski hat when I emerge in Spring. This is the first time I've tried living overseas. So far its going well. I've re-established my little routines here. Coffee, news, and crossword first thing in the morning. I'm also writing until noon each day. We'll see where that leads. I'm living on one of Stockholm's fourteen...

Oct 28, 2008 - Finnham, Sweden
so i woke up really early this morning and caught a ferry out to the outer archipelago outside of stockholm, which is basically a series of 24000 islands off the coast. very beautiful, but when i got to finnhamn, there was literally nothing to do but hike around, and there was no food, so i was starving and freezing cold, oh yea, it was about to snow when i finally got another ferry back to the city. all in all, pretty 3 hour boat ride, but very anti climactic, and not really worth it

whats up everyone, so ive arrived in stockholm after an over night bus ride from oslo. norway was just way too expensive to enjoy, plus, to be quite honest, its natural beauty is trumped by the relative blandness of the rest of the country, but again the people are very nice, just not very scandinavian looking, think more viking wench. im still in the train station in stockholm so i havent seen the city, though its still dark and 6 am so nothing will be open for two hours anyways.

Sep 19, 2008 - Back to Stockholm
You will be happy to know that I met our hosts before they left for work this morning. The wife works with the unemployed. I guess I should have asked her if she had anything for me. The husband works with criminals between their arrest and seeing the judge. Monte said that he should feel right at home with me. I have no idea what that meant. Despite only meeting me for breakfast, they seemed to see me as a legitimate guest. They even asked me to sign the guest book. We caught the train from Malmo to Stockholm. The Stockholm airport is...

Sep 14, 2008 - Arrived
Wow! What a day! Okay, it is really longer than a day, but it just feels like one day because I haven't had a shower in so long. Despite Hurricane Ike raging in the gulf, my flight from New Orleans took off right on time. I arrived in ATL with enough time to get coffee before boarding the flight to Paris. Delta had a change of equipment (which sounds like they put in a new radio, but really means they changed the whole stinkin' jet), so I ended up getting my cushy exit row seat changed for the last row on the plane. Ech, who's worried...

Just arrived in Sweden! Such a cute city!! After a good night sleep in the boat, I woke up and went for some pictures in the deck. We were already very close to Stockholm. Finally a sunny day!! Had red fruits and yogurt for breakfest! Left the boat and went to the main train station to meet my cousin Elisa. Met some cool italians, Frederico and Lucca that helped me with my luggage. It was so cool to see my cousin again, after almost 1 year!!! :) We've been walking around the city with Kali (american friend of Elisa), and after Anastacia...

Day of travel to New York... 12 hours to get to Stockholm and just about when we were thinking it was time to re-board the flight to New York they tell us the flight’s been delayed for 4 hours... due to a technical problem... go figure... this was the same plane that brought us to Stockholm and now it has a technical problem??? Lindell worked it out... the only thing that comes out of Sweden is tennis players, IKEA and ABBA... and we weren’t none of them... Now Lindell doesn’t need much prodding to start singing ABBA songs so maybe we’ll...
