After 10 yrs together Malin and I are engaged....... Yes pick yourself up off the floor, yes it is "About bloody time" and yes it must have been the Stockholm weather. A bit for the girls (from malin) on the why, how, where and can I see tha ring? Shane proposed on our 10th anniversary over looking Stockholm after a fantastic dinner at a flashy restaurant. I had no idea he would and the...

Jun 16, 2005 - Stockholm, Sweden (once more)
So many delightful foods did we have in Stockholm the second time around, and with so many delightful people. We stayed with our friend, Lia and hung out with her and with Louice, both of who we met in Peru. At their homes, we had swedish meatballs and pea soup, blood pudding and lingonberry sauce, reindeer and herring, Swedish pancakes and a few sorts of traditional Swedish liquore, over which they sang us a toast in Swedish. We ate at a few all-you-can-eat buffets, including one at Pizza Hut, which is actually a fairly fancy eatery in...

Jun 12, 2005 - Stockholm, Sweden
We came to Sweden and Lia picked us up from the train station and we are staying at her house cause she is the coolest. We met Lia and Louice in Peru but they live in Stockholm and that's where we are so now we are with them. When Lia went to work, Louice showed us around town a bit. We are going to Narvick after one night here and coming back for pea soup Thursday (a popular pastime here I guess), at which time Lia and Louice promise to make us pea soup, pancakes, and possibly even reindeer. Don't forget, more picture are up on the ofoto...

Jun 6, 2005 - Stockholm, Sweden
Another beautiful Scandinavian country, Sweden has all the charm of Denmark, plus camping. Yes, I said camping. The Swedish are an outdoorsy people. This is why it is legal to set up your tent on any public land in the city. Which is a good thing, because Sweden is more expensive than Denmark, which makes camping an attractive option.

May 14, 2005 - When the Frost's came to town!
The Frost's are on exchange to the UK and with the jetset attitude you develop here 'just popped over to visit' us here in Stockholm. So you add four adults and two kids (4 and 6 yo(nearly 7 I'm told!)) in a 32sqm apartment plus beautiful Swedish Spring weather you just have to have fun. And fun we did have! After a relatively uneventful trip north from Skavsta Airport (RYAN air airport) David and Tonya the kids and a VOLVO made to our place. The weather was beautiful and with the sun staying up till 10 o'clock a stroll and a pizza was in...

May 5, 2005 - Stockholm enfin!

May 1, 2005 - Stockholm, Sweden
Elizabeth (Indiana) asked me to travel with her to Stockholm to pick up here mom and visit the city for the weekend...Being the free spirit I am said, "Sure why not!" So we left Friday and took the X2000 train aka the really really fast train (Dan, it was cool). We visited the Vasa Museum. In the early 17th century, Sweden was busy building an empire around the Baltic Sea in northern Europe. A strong navy was essential. During the 1620s Sweden was at war with Poland. In 1625 the Swedish king Gustavus Adolphus ordered new warships; among...

Apr 27, 2005 - UPDATE from the slackers!!
Oh how slack we have been! This is just an update on what and where we have been up to, for the most close to home and exploring more of Stockholm. A snappy trip home to Luleå but no other major adventures. We didnt make to Turkey for ANZAC day so that will have to be another adventure! Maybe Hellfire Pass and Turkey?? Malin has a new job, now works for AMEX Platinum Travel here in Stockholm on a short term contract (ends end Aug 05) and she is loving it, hopefully she can transfer back to Perth AMEX end of the year. Shane still studies...

Apr 16, 2005 - Stockholm, Sweden
Stockholm, Sweden... I spent a couple of days here trying to convince myself that it must be me, that this is really a fun place and worthy of inclusion to any European vacation itinerary. I'm having a difficult time with that however. Stockholm does have its share of restaurants, bars, historical buildings, and markets - but nothing special. The city is pleasant, friendly, clean, and virtually crime free (but it's also sort of boring). Outside of the predominently blonde population, nothing really stands out for me here. Most of the other...
