The languages spoken here are Sinhalese, Tamil and English. Children at the age of two and a half, attend Montessori kinder to start learning english. The languages are quite different from each other. There are 52 letters in both Sinhalese and Tamil alphabets. Most signs are written in both languages. Sinhalese is more round and attractive, whereas the Tamil is more condensed, a bit Sanskrit like, perhaps even a little more like arabic.
