Feb 1, 2016 - MORAIRA

Last year we visited Moraira on market day but then went on to Javea. This time we thought we would spend a few days there. It is a small seaside town with a large marina and popular with both tourists and ex-pats wanting to live in a sunnier climate. Our campsite was quite small (compared with some further along the coastline) and intimate and had a lovely friendly feel about it. Most plots have trees for shade which would be very much appreciated in the hot summer but this time of year we all ended up playing musical chairs to ensure we...

Jan 19, 2014 - Calpe

Moved on again today. The weather on Friday when we arrived was gorgeous, sunny & hot but yesterday it was dull again with a bit of rain during the day. Today it was still dull & chilly first thing. We did find out that all the water filled fields around the site that we had remarked on when we arrived were rice fields as this is a big rice growing area. At 14:52 we crossed the meridian at Greenwich (there really is a place called Greenwich on the Spanish coast!) We had planned to get as far as Calpe and anchor there for the night, going across to the Balearics the following day, but checking the...

Jul 8, 2007 - Calpe

A 'big'driving day. Only five hours, but it was never a dull moment!! Today I decided to try out the main motorway (I did the coastal highway yesterday after all) and I wanted to get down to Calpe via a few small towns. In the end I decided to visit those towns as a day trip and made a beeline for Calpe - I've discovered that you really need to get into a town before the Tourist Office closes so that you can get a map of the place and some directions to accommodation! With the Castle in Morella not opening until 11am I didn't get away until...
