Feb 1, 2012 - Farewell to Benidorm
Hi Everyone We have had a marvellous two months in Benidorm and enjoyed all the town has to offer. Because the town and surrounding area is hemmed in by mountains on three sides and the sea on the 4th Benidorm has a micro climate. The sun rises over the mountains at 9am every morning and shines bright in the blue sky most days with temperatures reaching the low twenties. We have had only 4 wet/overcast days in the past 8 weeks so Paul and I are looking very fit and healthy with our golden tans. It’s a shame we only look fit & healthy. The...

Jan 16, 2012 - Soaking up the sun in Benidorm
Hi Everyone Not so much to report this week as we have spent much of the time relaxing, reading or just soaking up the sun. The weather is still fantastic even though it’s well into winter here. Most days the temperature reaches the high teens or low twenty’s. Christmas Day comes later to the children of Spain. They have to wait until the three Kings arrive on the night of the 5th January, Epiphany. The Three Kings Parade arrives early evening in the old town of Benidorm and works its way through the narrow streets. The participants in the...

Jan 2, 2012 - Welcome to 2012
Hi Everyone Happy New Year What a great night we had on the campsite in Benidorm bringing in 2012. As the clock struck 12 we all had to eat twelve grapes for good luck, a Spanish custom where each grape represents a month in the coming year. The party consisted of Spanish and Brits (we are not sure what the Dutch and Belgium’s do). The Spanish had a sit down meal and the Brits had a yummy buffet with some great singers to entertain us. The Spanish certainly know how to party and are fantastic dancers with the stamping of their feet and the...

Dec 15, 2011 - Merry Christmas from Benidorm, Spain
Hi Everyone The hustle and bustle of Benidorm beckoned and after finding the right campsite we have secured our pitch until the New Year (and maybe beyond). The camp is very friendly and many of the campers have been escaping to the south of Spain from the cold and wet northern winters for years. Many stay for 3-6 months returning home to the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany once spring has arrived and the snow and ice have melted. Life is very slow and relaxing in the camp. Paul and I don’t surface until the sun shows its...

Jul 2, 2008 - Spain (Camping ?? - Benidorm)
Wednesday is market day at Benidorm (woo hoo). Rowena and I decided to treat ourselves to a full breakfast, not knowing what we were going to be up to that day, and headed towards the café. We had eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, baked beans and coffee. It was so expensive – 2.5 euro each! John and Sue joined us and had coffee and then we headed off for the town. This is only a short walk away (about ten minutes), but it was already well into the 30s and it was only about 1030ish. The market is very big! Rowena bought some jewellery, some shoes...

Jul 1, 2008 - Spain (Camping Villasol – Vinaros to Camping ?? - Benidorm)
Had breakfast and was all packed up and ready to go by about 8am so we went to find John and Sue, who we had organised to follow to our next stop at Benidorm. John and Sue had told us about the place the evening before and recommended it. We organised to meet them at the local Lidl store at about 9am. The store was supposed to open at 9:15am, but that is Spanish time for 9:28 when we finally got into the store. We were on the road by 9:40. It was such a pleasant thing to not have to worry about navigating. John was driving his camper and...

Jul 13, 2007 - Benidorm (Aqualandia)
Happy Friday the 13th Y'all! ...we've met alot of southerners... This morning we were very quick with getting out of our hostel. We needed to get to Benidorm so we could enjoy Terra Mitica. We walked for about 20 minutes to the spot where our map said the Tram station was. All that was there was the Central Market. This place was huge and filled with fish and pieces of meat. The smell coming out of the building was so disgusting. We couldn't figure out where the Tram station was so we asked an old lady. She told us it was 2 blocks away....
