Sep 24, 2009 - Palma De Mallorca (Spain)
Mallorca is a very airy, new clean city which appears to have lots of money - the marina is a prime example of richness with its beautiful, large yachts. Nice weather, wide palm and tree lined streets and designer shops mixed with the quaint marketlike stores. We lunched in a mall with a fountain and lined with palms and trees and watched the colouful and varied types of people pass us by. The large cathedral was very impressive with horse drawn carts (owned by gypsies, we think), artists selling paintings of Mallorca (of which we bought...

Sep 20, 2009 - The beginning!
I'm finally settled! I arrived in Palma on Tuesday around 7pm with luggage in tow. Although it was a long flight, the fact that I was so excited to get here made it better. After the first lunch on Wednesday with the entire group, we walked around the city with the resident director and the lady in charge of housing assignments. All of the meals that we've had so far have been so good. They use olive oil on EVERYTHING. There's a lot of pork and seafood and tomatoes are almost in everything as well. On Thursday, we walked around the city...

May 18, 2009 - Adios Ibiza!
Ibiza!

Apr 7, 2009 - don't make me leeeeaaavvveee :(
I was just reading over my previous journal entry, as I was short on time while writing it and realized I have to go through the last four days in more detail. Bottom line: I hope you all got a good look at me before I left because I'm having all my belongings shipped here and moving to Ibiza. This is the best place on earth. I mentioned briefly how I ended up chatting with the owners of the lounge/restaurant I ate at on Saturday night, well I thought they were just nice people and I was lucky to have walked into the right place. Wrong....

Apr 5, 2009 - dancing the night away
finally some time to relax!! my last day in barcelona was great- the weather finally picked up and i got to see some really cool things. i went into la pedrera, an apartment complex built by gaudi and it was soooo cool. i didn`t realize how intelligent he was, all his buildings are designed so differently because of the physics of architecture, he was so innovative and creative. it's hard to describe and i can´t post pictures until i'm home but when you see them you´ll be totally amazed. after that i went to parc guell, which is the public...

Apr 4, 2009 - Mallorca Island
To celebrate our first year of dating, Jason and I took a week vacation to the Spanish Island of Mallorca as a present to each other. On Saturday we took the hour and a half flight from Madrid to the Palma airport (the largest city on the island). As always with every flight they ask you to turn off your cell phones and all electronic devices. My phone was packed away and being such an early flight (we woke up at 4am to get ready for the flight), I was too tired to reach the phone and thought, "Who is going to call this phone?…I think I’m...

Sep 3, 2008 - Mallorca - Kayaking & Massages by the Sea
We spent our last day in Mallorca being a bit more adventurous. We walked to a diving center down the road from our hotel and rented kayaks. We took our waterproof, underwater camera with us but I'll have to add the pics later after they're developed. Stay tuned! Kayaking on the ocean was so fun and a really, really great workout. We paddled westward, passing sailboats and speedboats, exploring all the little bends in the coastline. It was a gorgeous, sunny day. Perfect for kayaking in the sea! We returned to the hotel in time to lounge by...

Sep 2, 2008 - Mallorca - Palma & Old Town
We woke up early to catch a glimpse of the sunrise but discovered our hotel didn't really face as eastward as we originally thought. No matter, the sky was still beautiful. We claimed an early seat poolside and spent most of the day relaxing, sunning, swimming, and catching up on our reading. We even took a dip in the ocean, swimming to a nearby beach and back. That night we took the bus into the city to run some errands and spend some time exploring Palma and the old city. We discovered that there really wasn't that much to see and we'd...

Sep 1, 2008 - Mallorca - Relaxing beside the Ocean
After a long day of driving and flying, we took the opportunity to sleep in on Monday (plus the beds were so comfortable, it was hard to wake up). We actually got motivated enough to go for a jog around the neighborhood. Our hotel was located a mile or so from the old city of Palma, in more of a residential neighborhood. We returned to the hotel to put in some quality time at the pool. The day turned out to be a bit rainy but we tried to take advantages of the brief periods of sun to get some swimming in, then we moved up to the terrace...

Aug 31, 2008 - Mallorca - The Hospes Maricel
We arrived in Mallorca late on Sunday and were practically overwhelmed by how nice it was. As soon as we arrived, they whisked our bags away and whisked US out to the terrace, gave us a snack and glasses of champagne and seated us in some comfy rocking chairs facing the ocean while they checked us in. It should have been a sign of just how wonderful the next four days were going to be. We were truly pampered at the Hospes Maricel and we would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat. Check out a few photos of our uber-luxurious hotel.

Aug 16, 2008 - europe '08' - Ibiza
Well, not my first choice of holiday but looking forward to it all the same. On my own now, Claire headed home from Bournmouth, so little bit nervous! DAY 1 - Arrived in Ibiza around 10am and got the local bus into Ibiza town. Got talking to an english girl on the bus who was out there to meet up with some of her freiends, she invited me to go to her hotel to check for rooms but where she was stayeing seemed to be a bit quiet and out of the way so i headed further into the town. When i got there i spent quite a while looking for a cheap...

Jul 23, 2008 - Palma de Mallorca - Sightseeing and shopping with Kelly while the boys are on the beach at C'an Pastilla
This morning we're waking up at Paul and Doris's, having breakfast, but Monique has to go in to Palma to pick up her vehicle from the shop and then she'll drop us back to Kelly and Daniel's when she goes into Biniali. As soon as we arrive back to Biniali, Kelly and I head into Palma for an afternoon of sight-seeing and shopping while Daniel and Randy take the kids to the beach at Can Pastilla. Palma de Mallorca Spain: Mallorca, the exceptional place of the Mediterranean, an island with bright beaches and amazing corners full of poetry and...
