Awakened today thinking of my mother. This was reported to be a long day on the Meseta. Lots of miles with no towns. It rained a bit but was nice and cool. The first hour I walked I thought about my mother. How grateful I was to have had her for 70 years. I sang the songs she used to sing and imagined her there talking to me. About 8 am I took out my Spanish book. It was Jill's book she had taken to Spain when she went to learn Spanish. So now I walked with Jill. Emotions welled up for me and my eyes were filed with tears. She loved Spain...

Apr 19, 2014 - Moratinos - We are over half-way!!!!!

Another hot day (Ouch - I hear it's snowing in Edmonton!). But at least you didn't have to drag your body 30 kms in the heat. Are you feeling sorry for us yet? We spent last night in the creepy Hotel San Zoilo Monestario. It was a 3 star hotel which Pat Henderson liked, but I found creepy. The suggestion is that it is close to a Parador. There is a monastery and chapel attached and but when I was here last, I found doors which probably hadn't been opened for centuries. I expected to find skeletons around every corner.
