Day 5 - Thursday 18th January What a difference a day makes. No rain, but Pamplona is up in the mountains & there was a blanket of fog hanging around. At last we got to see the sun & it was lovely as we headed South towards Madrid. Nice quiet roads with snow capped mountains in the distance. We picked a gem of an Aire today at Medinaceli. Turned out to be a parking area just outside the walls of a very old village spectacularly perched right at the top of a high hill. After only a few hours sleep we managed to get up and start our homeward last hour's short drive to BellaVista. Arrived about 11am and crashed out. Tuesday lunchtime, we had a nice surprise. Dave, plus Barb & John turned up! We didn't think we'd see them again so soon, if ever, but they knew we were going back to base for a short debriefing before heading north and thought they'd re-join us, which was lovely. Jun 23, 2016 - Northern Spain

SAT JUNE 18th We left Puerto Lapice Saturday morning, driving on virtually empty roads thru Ocana, around the south and east of Madrid, having decided not to do cities while we have Blue. Roads very quiet compared to uk. Stopped in a very modern suburb to shop at Lidl, on again past Guadalajara, now almost deserted roads, following the railway to MEDINACELI. Roman settlement beautiful place to overnight, fabulous views, peace and quiet, cool before 10 and after 6, plenty of shade, a village now of around 900 residents. The houses are...
