Apr 16, 2018 - Villalcazar de Sirga to Ledigos

Day 15 - El Camino Maximum elevation = 903m, minimum elevation = 802m. 5 - 16 degrees. Mostly sunny. Headed out at 7.30am for Carrion de los Condes for breakfast, 5km away. Another version of Pan con tomate, Mmmmmm!. Then, a pretty exit of the town before a long, flat, straight stretch of path for about 17km with no villages. Was hard on the feet and the eyes. Overview Stopped at the other albergue / bar for breakfast. A young Australian woman, Amy, joined us. Phoned mum before leaving bar so Amy walked on. Saw various others on the way. Was getting hot by the time I arrived. John had good success and his foot was redressed. Told not to walk on it for 2 days and leave open to air. We checked into municipal albergue in a...

Had breakfast at a bar in town then followed a winding route out of the town to a long straight gravel track that went for 17km. A Spanish guy (Israela??) joined us for the morning and we chatted the whole time. He had just finished his job at a multinational in Lyon and was working out what to do next. John's open blister was hurting and this guy encouraged him with his own earlier blister...

Well we have been moving along. Today we passed the half way mark. From Hornillos we have travelled to Castorjeriz, Boadilla (an oasis in the Meseta), Carrion de los Condes and tonight we are just out of Ledigos. We are now in the middle of the Meseta which many people skip entirely. We are having a hard time figuring that one out...it feels much like home. Lots of praire but still mountains as a backddrop to hills and trees. Quite beautiful but definately less cover so quite hot. Tomorrow we are having a short day to avoid some heat and to...
