May 23, 2007 - Not my cup of tea
Las Palmas was disappointing, plain and simple. The town is not nearly as nice as Puerto de la Cruz, and is actually a little scuzzie in a lot of areas. It's a port town, so there are a many questionable characters walking about. Although, the old town is a bit nicer and has a lot of history. But mostly, the people are just not friendly. Cars speed up, as if they are going to hit me, just so they can make cat calls (and of course I met another creepy man on the beach). I also had an unpleasant experience with the ferry services. Jul 18, 2004 - Lanzarote to Gran Canaria
Woke up in my car and drove out. I figured I had to return the car by 12:00 noon to the airport which was close to Acerrife where my ferry was leaving from. It was about 9:30 so I drove over to Teguise which was the old capital of Lanzarote where they had some old buildings and such. It turns out that there is a big market open on Sunday mornings so I had trouble making my way through town. Only had our first class today as our second one was canceled. I was glad I made it to the first class since it was taught be a substitute teacher named Raquel. Where as all the girls (well most anyway) thought Prof. Bascuas was a handsome looking professor this attorney/guest speaker was our Bascuas rough equivalent. She could have been reading the phone book and I would of not been bored in the least. I ended up raising my hand in that class more than I had for all the previous classes combined.
