From Sort, we headed up the river valley turned west up a second river valley and started to climb up into the clouds. 1/2 up we met some cows who challenged our presence in their dining room. We could see for miles! But once on top our view was limited. The pass was 2100 meters. (C 13 to C 28) The river valleys had been narrow and rocky in places. The top of the mountain was a cloud forest with the scenic parts well-hidden. Once over the pass we joined N 230. Modern ski lodges started appearing--one after the other. The lodges were tall...

Jun 18, 2011 - Jaca in the Pyrenees

We went back into San Sebastian for the morning. When we walked to breakfast it was pouring down, when we came out it was brilliant sunshine. Then we set off driving up the Pyrenees to Jaca. I can see why the Spanish are such good bike riders. Imagine the road bike ride up to the Sign of the Bell Bird – and multiply it by about 10! We did see a few athletes in the morning in San Sebastian – a first since we arrived in Europe. Oct 5, 2010 - Jaca, Spain

Short day from Tarragona to Jaca,below the Pyrenees close to the French boarder.Passed through a lot of different terrain from hills and mesas, fruit orchards and corn fields. Jaca has the feel of a ski resort. We camped just outside of town and making this entry in a Tapas bar near the camp. The tapas are tasty.
