Jul 8, 2008 - Spain (Camping Parque Tropical - Estepona)

Well that will teach me to have a siesta just before bed time. I woke (I am not sure at what time) and it was still dark. I got up and had a pee then went back to bed and read for about two hours. At some stage I dozed again and came too when Rowena got up. She wandered off for a pee and on her return started to make breakfast. That was toast, canned tomatoes and eggs, the toast having to come pre-toasted and boxed as we have no way of toasting bread ourselves. What a cool idea. Toast in a box. Carrefour though you see. Can get anything...

Jul 7, 2008 - Spain (Camping Parque Tropical - Estepona)

It has just occurred to us that it is Monday the 7th of July. We have booked the Gibraltar tour for the 09th July not appreciating that that is TWO days away, not tomorrow as we had, for some reason, in our heads that it was. This will mean another day here at Estepona. We have decided to drive back to Carrefour and do a proper shopping, but rather than struggle back on the bus with all our shopping bags (and where I may have to kill someone else) we will take the camper, do our shop and load it directly into storage. We have also assigned...

Jul 6, 2008 - Spain (Camping Parque Tropical - Estepona)

Even though we were abed quite late we still managed to get up at a reasonable time. Our English neighbours have decided to push on and find a camping ground in Marbella, but thanks to our advice not Marbella Playa. We had breakfast and wandered off to find the bus to Estepona Township. We found the bus stop out on the highway, about 1 kilometre from the camp, and waited for the next bus. It was only about a half hour wait, but whilst we there we met an English woman and her daughter. We got talking and found the daughter had done a...

Jul 5, 2008 - Spain (Camping Marbella Playa - Marbella to Camping Parque Tropical - Estepona)

5am and there is an idiot peeping his horn, the two screaming Spanish dogs from yesterday have started screaming again and a kid is crying somewhere nearby. I read my book for a while, no point in trying to get anymore sleep. Get up about 7:30ish and cooked beans and eggs for breakfast. I went back online to confirm the next campsites details and found a better one. Cheaper and in the same area. 10:30ish we headed off. Very weird. It is going to be a hot day but the campsite and nearby area was clothed in a heavy fog that has a cold edge to...

Feb 29, 2008 - We're in Estepona!

Unfortunately, I haven't had good luck with this website. But I'll try again (maybe the third time will be the charm). After a long flight (8-plus hours in the air)we arrived safely in Malaga, Spain. We drove the scenic route to our hotel in Estepona, about 50 miles away. The Marriott timeshare where we're staying is directly on the Mediterranean Sea. It's beautiful, inside and out. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch at an outdoor cafe at the hotel and then took a long nap, but not so long that we would mess up our sleep/awake cycle. We are all...

One Week in Spain

Dec 31, 2007 - Estepona

After driving almost to Gibraltar and deciding that we did not like the nearest campsite at San Roque, we have returned to Parque Tropical just outside Estepona, the plan is to hire a car and use the site as a base to we can drive to Gibraltar each dayso Robin can investigate his family history. We are about 28 miles from the rock so it is not too much of a drive. Having a car mean we can put our awning up and establish ourselves a proper base camp for our stay
