Von Durban aus gings in die suedlichen Drakensberge. Wir basierten uns in Underberg in einem typisch viktorianischen, netten B & B mit schoenem Garten, geheizten betten und tollem Fruehstueck, bei einer alten englischen Lady. Als wir eines Abends bei Dunkelheit noch nicht im B&B aufgekreuzt waren (sondern statt dessen im Restaurant gegenueber grad Fisch hatten), kam die bemutternd nette, besorgte Landlady glatt rueber ins Restaurant, nachdem sie die Gegend nach uns abgeklappert hatte, nur um zu sehen, ob eh alles ok ist. “Should you become aware of a security risk in the late afternoon, have an early supper and arrange your equipment to easily set up camp... after dark, move without light to a new location … arrange a night watch. …sleep with your clothes and boots on…if raided by bandits use a whistle to warn others…do not resist…note the exact location of the campsite…in order to provide this to a rescue team...". May 27, 2008 - Underberg via Mtuba & Durban

Caught a shared taxi to Durban where we checked on Indian visas(missed cansulate being open by 15 minutes so had to wait til 2 when they reopened!)...takes 5 working days for 3 months & need a copy of our itinerary + 840R ($120 US). In Mtuba we saw our 1st female taxi driver in all of Africa! Passed 1000's of acres of tree plantations and sugarcane fields in rolling hills. Listened to 'famous' evangelist singer Rebecca Malope the whole way!!! Durban is western almost CA, a big port town(biggest in S.Afr). Onward to Pietermaritzburg(PMB)...

Underberg - Khotso Lodge After several conversations from Coffee Bay with the very helpful Andre - the Khotso lodge manager, I decided to take a chance that my trip into Lesotho would be possible and headed to the ranch near Underberg - the launching area for all trips into Lesotho from the East.
