Sep 21, 2010 - Simonstown & Boulders Pinguin Beach
Unterschiedlicher...

Oct 10, 2009 - 'Lets go and fly a kite'
Before coming to South Africa, I had said I had a few things planned, but not everything was in the Itinerary. Well today is one of those, I apologise for not many pictures today, I had a problem with electric again, so camera did not charge as much as I wanted too. It was a day for going out in the noddy car and explore. After leaving the city centre, and motorways, I headed south, it was still early so traffic light, I was heading towards Simons Town (see map) and I stopped for a few minutes by the railway line. Now in UK the most...

Dec 23, 2008 - Reunion in Simon's Town
We had a long day ahead of us, so we left Mossel Bay at 8am. We stopped at the Game department store on the edge of town and picked up a small, fake Christmas tree, some decorations and some ornaments. I guess last night’s Christmas concert helped us find our Christmas spirit after all. We thought it would be an easy drive back to Cape Town, but the weather turned against us as we climbed Sir Lowry’s Pass. Dense fog and the faint glow of the leading car’s hazard lights were all we could see. We were forced to slow right down and take it...

6-12 Well, our extension did not pan out...windy and no trip up the cable car or boat to Robben Is.! So we decided to head S. to Simon's Town...we watched the African Penguins in their protected area in False Bay Boulders part of Table Mountain NP. Easy to get to via train, only an hour and a half to the place - 3 hours round trip seeing lots of coastal towns and surf. Most of the morning was spent planning our next/last 2 weeks here trying to get in the visas as well as see as much as possible. Decided the only way with limited time and...

May 18, 2008 - Simon's Town
Today we drove down the east side of the cape peninsula to Simon's Town. Simon's Town is a historic naval town, but now is mostly a seaside holiday town. Lot's of beaches and boating. We stopped at a little beach along the way that had adorable brightly painted changing huts. There we also saw whales just off shore and watched them for quite a while. Then we stopped at a little place called Dixie's Tavern for a couple of beers and enjoyed the view of False Bay. When we got to Simon's Town we took a speed boat ride out to Seal Island, where...

Dec 12, 2007 - Cape Agulhas to Simon's Town
The drive to the Southern most point in South Africa was along a very rocky harsh wind swept coastline. I'm not sure why anyone would want to live here. The lighthouse has been here since 1949. We walked the tidal pools because the tide was way out and took photos of the point where the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic meet. There seems to be some controversy about this though. From this stop we drove back along the same road as yesterday to Bredasdorp before driving west along R316 to Napier and on to Caledon. Lots of big farms here in the...
