St. Lucia is a pretty little town on the Indian Ocean and situated on an estuary. We took a boat ride on the estuary to observe mainly crocodiles and hippos. We found plenty of them. We visited a beautiful beach on the Indian Ocean that literally stretched for miles. The ocean was spectacular - deep blue and a rugged surf. The day had a downer though. Sharon and I were shopping in town at a mall where she stepped off a step that she did not see taking a pretty bad fall. She twisted her ankle and probably her right knee. She was really hurt...

Apr 11, 2006 - in the land of the hip

As we drive those last few kilometers toward the campground, we concentrate on catching those final signs and turns. Therefore, we felt rather foolish when we pulled in today and everyone who had arrived before us said, "Did you see the hippos?" We had not. Sure enough. Within walking distance of where I am sleeping tonight a group?pod? of hippos floated lazily in the water. Not to worry. These were only the first of countless others we would enjoy today.
