Jun 27, 2017 - Singapore

Day 39/40 - Mon 26 - Tue 27 Jun 17 Awake on alarm at 0600hrs; Kaye did not sleep well. 0745hrs, we depart our "home" which we have become very fond; except the stairwell under a major renovation and a mess the whole time. We walked to La Tour- Mauborg with the option of either taxi or train. The quick arrival at the taxi stand decided the taxi option and we departed for CDG (T1) at 0755 hrs. The traffic was commensurate with post holiday ( weekend ) early morning ( Monday) traffic ( as advised by our driver) and initially it flowed well,...

Jul 1, 2015 - Singapore - Day 37&38

We departed our hotel just after 0900hrs for CDG. While waiting and during the shuttle run, we spoke with a very pleasant French lady who spoke English well. The experience had "one" thinking? Our check in was painful and we rate CDG and Sydney as two of the least desirable airports; not a patch on Changi or even Heathrow. We departed on time and arrived in Singapore on time at 0650 hrs after a smooth, uneventful flight spent watching movies. Our chicken dinner on the flight was exceptional and memorable; a " real melt in your mouth...

Feb 22, 2015 - Our last days....

21st February Ok, Guy really wasn't well so our plans really went out of the window. We had breakfast in the little bakery a few doors from the hotel; it opened today after CNY. Bought a tuna roll for lunch too. Caught the MRT to the Dhoby Ghaut station and walked the length of Orchard Road to the botanical gardens. We'd planned to go there too but quite honestly, it was too much. As we came out of the MRT we were walking along when we cam to double gates which had not only armed security guards but a guard in uniform (Buckingham Palace...

Feb 20, 2015 - Singapore

Today decided to go to gardens on the bay. Had to get the MRT. Unfortunately, it didn't go all the way but stopped one stop early. That was ok because we went for breakfast at the basement of the Marina Bay Sands. It's the shopping complex attached to the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. It's shaped like a tall ship. Beautiful structure. We had French toast with banana and strawberry topped with maple syrup. Delicious. The shops in there are all high end designers - Dior, Versace, Armarni etc. On the way back we walked through this shopping mall...

Feb 19, 2015 - Leaving Bali and our Singapore arrival....

18th- Well we shouldn't have gone to the warung again. Both poorly. Got the shuttle it Hardy's to buy medication from the pharmacy and then went to the beach to sit/lay in the shade. Already found a fixed price shop...really fed up with having to barter everything down feeling that we're being 'done' all the time. Was looking for something specific and she told me it'd be there later on that day. So went back in the afternoon. I snorkelled again. Didn't go out too far into the weeds in case of snakes so didn't see lots of lovely fish but...

Feb 4, 2011 - Singapore To Kuala Lumpur

We check out of the hotel at midday & take a taxi back to the bus depot to catch our 2.30 bus. The journey takes 5-6 hrs so we were pleased to find that our bus was really quite luxurious with A/C & electric reclining seats, it really was most comfortable, a world away from National Express coaches. We had to stop at the causeway between Singapore & Malaysia to go through Immigration & Customs formalities on both sides but all went smoothly. The roads were all good & we sailed along with just one refreshment stop on the way. It was dark by...

My Adventure

Jun 29, 2009 - Wednesday 29th June

Got off to a bit of a rocky start by having our shampoo, conditioner and Jens moisturizer all confiscated for being in too larger containers and then by me leaving the backpack on the x-ray machine! Other than that the flight went fine. We knew of a couple of others that were on the flight to Singapore (Brodie and Ben) so once landed in Singapore caught up with them for a beer along with another bloke that started chatting to me who was sitting in front of me. Wouldn’t believe it but his name was Shane Williams also! Anyway after a few...

Feb 28, 2009 - Singapore

Singapore Sling Time Wednesday 18th February 2009 Well, we have managed to get packed up at 6/12 Orchard Brae Avenue – and it took longer that anticipated – we both thought that we would have a relaxing morning – but not so – the car only went into the garage at 12.30pm and so rather than lunch being a 12 till 2 affair it was a 1.30 to 2.15 – bottle of wine and two quick meals. However, we did carry the luggage into town – well, Neil carried and Carolyn dragged hers on its wheels – So at least we know that we can lift our luggage and if...

Sep 20, 2008 - Arrive in Singapore

Well we have arrived all ok at 8am are both a bit tired as we didn't sleep much but we did watch a lot of films. Think that we are going to have an easy day today and have a nap at some point so that can stay up till a normal time. Note from Alice: Justin forgot to mention that I had trouble with my stupid passport again because the guy on the desk didn't think it looked like me! I had to answer questions about things in the passport and sign a bit of paper. I don't think it's THAT different - and I've got another 5 years on it!!! In the...

Sep 15, 2008 - Por fin llegamos

Besos. Chini y Sergio
