There is a remarkable invention here in Senegal (well, I doubt it is unique to Senegal, but anyway). It is a hatchback car with two rows of back seats, making the car have seven seats available, as well as a large trunk. These cars are called sept places (literally seven places in French) and are used as the long distance taxis of Senegal. They are usually decrepit, old, rusty, without handles on one or many of the doors. And yet they make the treks back and forth Senegals major points. Start: MALI End: Tambacounda, SENEGAL Weather: Hot The bus stopped at Senegalese customs just across the river. It was a brief stop with no inspection and then the bus wound its way through town to Immigration. I handed over my passport with the other passengers and was the last to have their identity document returned. I think this was due to the time taken to record my details because at one point I was asked my occupation.
