We turned south and headed back to the coast arriving at Nazare- a beachfront town and a really attractive place. Along the beachfront are racks of small fish drying in the sun and the smell of fish mingles with the smells issuing from the many cafes along the street. We are here two nights, one street back from the beach but with seaviews and sunsets. weather still hot during the day so a swim is on this afternoon. Jul 6, 2005 - Batalha and Fatima

We left Batalha to got to a winery to taste port wines and then on to Fatima. The port was good especially the sweet red, but I did not buy a bottle as it would have been hard to bring it home and I did not want to tote it for 2 weeks. I also believe that I can find it at home if I really wanted a bottle. We next stopped at Fatima. Fatima is where the Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd girls in May of 1917. This miracle and subsequent miracles of Fatima have been sanctioned by the Catholic Church. The last secret of Fatima was revealed...
