May 30, 2006 - Chiclayo, Northern Peru

We took a bus from Trujillo, our taxi driver in Trujillo kindly directed us to a much better bus service (everyone here is so helpful and friendly), so we got to sit back in comfort and watch Tom Cruise running and kicking stuff in a bootleg copy of Mission Impossible 3. We were quite surprised at the size of Chiclayo, its quite a big city. Once again our taxi driver directed us to a better hotel, apparently the one we were recommended by lonely planet was full of prostitutes...sure we're well used to that by now! An English chap called Rick who we met in Machu Picchu was on the same flight to Lima so we had lunch together before he took his bus to Huaraz. I spent the rest of the day in a Lima cybercafe and caught the 7pm service for Chiclayo,...

Ruth on the road

Oct 13, 2004 - Peru, Chiclayo

From Guayaquil we went straight to Tumbes in Peru, and the next morning we continued on to Chiclayo, where we are now. Today we've been to a nice and interesting market and tomorrow we're going to visit the tombes of "Lord of Sipan". We saw the exhibition, which is travelling around, in Quito and thought it would be interesting to see the actual site. Also it's nice to stop a few times on the way to Lima, it's a long way to go. Lord of Sipan is considered almost as big a found as Tutankhamon was and it's really interesting. They found...
