Jan 29, 2007 - Cusco

I arrived safe and sound (or maybe not so sound) after a horrific bus journey, so far the worst of my life. I entered the bus terminal and we were there extremely early in the morning, so there were people sleeping all over the place. I knew from experience that I'd not manage to find myself a place to sleep in a hostel or hotel at that time of night so I thought I'd hang around the bus terminal for a while before heading into town. As I sat on a bench, a woman approached me, offering me accommodation in the hill in Cusco, in an interesting...

Jan 21, 2007 - Cusco

In Cuzco we stayed in a hotel that had Sky lights made of plastic. It was quite a pleasant hotel....until....... he he he..... the hail and rain came down. We had run out of the room on to the street to watch the spectacle when Ned's girlfriend came out and screamed that we should check our room because their skylight had crack. Sure enough our's was shattered. Rain and ice was pouring on to our bed and clothes, combined with dirt from the roof. It was hard to move anything without being knocked in the head by the hail. The hail went on and...

Trip to Peru 2006

Nov 2, 2004 - hola from cusco

Lake Titicaca was great, we visited the people who live on islands that the make out of reeds. The have to put a new layer down every week or two because the reeds rot. After that we headed to our home stay. It went really well, until the very end. I was lucky enough to be put in one of the very few homes with electricity, and they even had an indoor toilet. Luxury all the way. We hiked up to the top of the island for a view of the lake and surrounding islands. We could even see Bolivia. That night the locals dressed us all up in...
