Jun 19, 2007 - Starting out on the Lares trek

The night before our trek began, we met up with representatives from GAP Adventures (who we had booked our trek with) and one of the guides for the trip, Juan Carlos. We had originally wanted to hike the Inca Trail hike, which is definitely the most famous trek in South America and which ends right at the amazing Inca ruin of Machu Picchu. The trek is highly regulated as it follows one of the original Inca roads built across the Incan empire to connect the various communities and corners of the Inca world.
