Canon de Colca oder das Tal der Leiden Motiviert und frohen Mutes haben wir eine 3-Tages Tour gebucht. Als wir am Morgen abfuhren wurden unsere Tour-Mates vorgestellt. Ursula und Juerg aus Chur. Wir hatten es sofort sehr lustig. Der Bus fuhr ab und ein toller Verkaeufer wollte uns eine Wunderpflanze verkaufen, nein danke. Also wir auf dem ersten Plateau angekommen waren, informierte uns die Reiseleiterin (Pati), dass gerade ein Autorennen zwischen Cuzco und Arequipa stattfindet und wir 5h Stunden warten muessten. Gut, gingen wir einen Tee...

Aug 25, 2004 - Peru - Colca Canyon

We just thought we would send you some photos of the overnight trip we took from Arequipa to Colca Canyon. These ancient people were the ones who taught the Inca's how to do the terracing that helped make them famous. We did do several hikes in the high altitude to help us get ready for the trek to Machu Picchu. The coca leaves and tea help us adjust to the high altitude. We also got up early in the morning and went to a location to spot condors. We were lucky because it only took us about 10 minutes of waiting before the nesting birds...

Aug 19, 2004 - Colca Canyon, Peru

2 Day Tourist Tour to Chivay and Colca Canyon for 18 US each. Not happy about being part of a tour but it seemed the easiest way to get there and see everything. Long bus ride to Chivay. Saw vicunas (like deer), alpacas and vizcachas (like rabbbits). Great scenery on the way with views of the Andies and lots of Volcanos over 5,500m. Very hot thermal waters in Chivay with an outdoor pool. Stayed there for 2 hrs to get a much needed clean, and had a nice beer while bathing. Next morning up at 5am to see the Condors flying above the Canyon....
