And to think I was so looking forward to this section, thinking it was the culmination of my tour.....Little did I know what horrors were in store...... Let´s maybe start with the positives: *The animals: Beautiful Toucans and Macaws *The Piranha fishing (I caught 8 in total!!!!) *The horseback riding The the negatives: *Oppressive heat so bad that I resorted to drinking so much soft drink, water, and beer that I had a bill of $54 at the end of three days!!! *THE ANIMALS:Bugs, Bugs, Bugs everywhere.....Tarantulas in sleeping hammocks,...

Dec 11, 2007 - Pantanal wetland

11 DECEMBER 2007 Day 1 of our 3 days in the Pantanal - today we had to leave Bonito and had nearly 6 hours of travelling to get to the Pantanal. We were lucky again to have our own private transport (a locally hired minivan) so it was just our tour group all together. We had about an hour of dirt road first and then bitumen onto Miranda were we stopped for a quick break and snack around 10.30am this morning, then back on the road again - bitumen again for the next 2 hours, but then we had about 1 1/2 hours of dirt road to get to the place...
